To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
This Whisperwood deck is about manifesting lots of creatures quickly through whisperwood elementals. This generates lots of creatures(or enchantments which can be bounced back with temur sabertooth ), all of which can be flipped up at any time, giving you your creatures when you need them most on anyone's turn, and triggering lifegain through mastery of the unseen, particularly late game when you have lots of creatures and multiple mastery of the unseen on the field.
Golden rule for this deck is to never use a noncreature when you can use a creature to achieve the same effect. Examples: enlightened ascetic, hidden dragonslayer.
Prophet of kruphix is amazing in this deck. Mana is never wasted; manifested creatures need flipping, multiples of 2mana should be saved for emergency bouncebacks with temur sabertooth, and at the end of each turn, excess mana can be spent manifesting more creatures via mastery of the unseen. A second manifested Prophet is handy to keep around, as it can be flipped up if your first prophet attracts removal.
zhur-taa ancient: Okay, I get why other people rate this card so low. But other people don't have flash through prophet of kruphix or bounceback through temur sabertooth :) pay 2mana with 1land at the end of turn to return this to hand and prevent opponents from gaining advantage. Lands untap, play this at end of opponent's turn when (s)he is tapped out, enjoy the extra mana, rinse and repeat. Being flashed in this way essentially gives you a 7/5 with haste for your next combat phase, which is pretty nice too.
Odric, Lunarch Marshal: Synergizes nicely with chromanticore and temur sabertooth. Prior to combat, bounce a cheap creature(hidden dragonslayer, rattleclaw mystic, enlightened ascetic are excellent choices for re-use) to give your side blanket indestructable.
Sideboard options:
Torrent Elemental with Thousand Winds. I've used this combo multiple times to wipe my opponent's field, leaving them wide open to attack on the next turn. Come at me, token decks.
Silent Arbiter with Elder of Laurels: Silent arbiter WILL make people angry at you! I don't even play with it in my shop anymore because its control is so powerful it kept making wins feel free. Keep it out on your opponent's turn, bounce it back with temur sabertooth before combat on your turn, attack with all your creatures, play it immediately after combat ends to enjoy the benefit while eliminating the downside. Alternatively, if you have plenty of creatures out, keep silent arbiter on the field, and pump a creature with trample and, if you like, indestructible, as many times as you can with elder of laurels. Late game when you have plenty of manifests out, you'll get 10/10 counters(or more) per four mana spent.
