Assistance on building a Rakdos Deck with Artifcats.

Hey everybody!

I'm currently trying to build a Rakdos deck with artifacts. ( Swamp & Mountain )

The problem is, I recently just picked up playing Magic again ever since the application came out for iOS. I've already collected all the cards so I'm good to go for creating my custom deck. I've been playing with pre made decks and also made in app purchases so I can have the cards. Honestly, worth the investment for getting back into Magic. Especially, digitally. Playing on my iPad is exactly like the good old days when I had binders and binders of cards. On to my main reason for this additional thread...Lol!

I haven't been able to make any good custom decks. I've tried many times but I'm badly out of practice with making a really good deck. I used to have a few good ones physically but those days are long over unfortunately.

Here's what I have to work with when it comes to making a custom deck in the Magic 2015 iOS application for the iPad.

Here's all the Swamp cards that I can use:

Additionally, I have these mana's that can be used as well. I am wondering if throwing in the Rakdos mana is good since it can act as Swamp or Mountain.

Now that I have laid out all the links for the cards that I have, I am hoping someone would be grateful enough to be able to help me put together a really good Rakdos deck.

Here's a deck I've been trying out. This deck I haven't changed. If I do change it in the app, I update it on here to keep track of my statistics and for feedback if anyone ever does give any.

The deck is meh in my opinion to a degree. It works in a way where if the other player doesn't kill me in the first 5 turns, I am able to lay out a good hand from time to time. Essentially, it's kind of a "Build up" kind of deck.
( Since I don't have much of the Magic terminology down, please just go with my terminology. )

In my mind though, I'm looking for a deck to be built in a way where I have cards play off of other cards in the deck. I believe this is called Synergy. I also want to be able to deflect anything casted at me right off the bat if possible. I know I would need a few instants I believe to do that. I'm also looking to layout creatures and build them up at rather quick pace. I would think it would be safe to assume that if some enchantments were to be thrown in there properly, this could happen.

As far as the Artifacts go, I would like to have a few thrown in there that would spice up the Rakdos deck. I'm not quite sure which ones to really put in there though to be honest.

Anyways, for anyone who reads this, thanks for taking the time to look into it and any advice to help put together an awesome deck with the cards I've listed above would be great!

im new here and owell, ill try to help you out, if you could tell me what you exactly mean, by the "rakdos deck"...just red and black, no matter what strategy? certain strategy that you would prefer? that would make it easier to think about it and giving you recommendations...

A Rakdos deck is black & red. Swamp & Mountain cards.

As far as a strategy goes, I explained the strategy I am trying to attempt in my initial post of this.

I appreciate you wanting to help. What would be a great way to help is to build a deck on this website deckstats.net based off the cards I've listed, save it, and send me the link so I can give it a try and give you feedback on it.

You've listed 4 shock cards. I only have 3. I'm at 69 cards with the deck. Which card would you add in as a recommendation?

I added 1 Pitchburn Devils.

I also don't have those 2 cards in the Magic iOS App. Rakdos Cluestone & Rakdos Signet.

So far, my winning / losing streak is:

1 win
3 losses

Sometimes I don't draw enough mana to execute some cards. That's the first thing I've noticed right off the bat during those 3 loses.

The one time I won though was playing the same person I just lost to the first time. If you don't have any friends in Game Center, you just tap play now and it searches for random players to match you up with. I was matched up with the same person twice in a row.

The first time he whooped me, Lol. The second time, I whooped him with 24 hp remaining. All the cards that took out his health along with the mana came out perfectly where I continuously keep chipping away at his health and cards 1 by 1.

The deck definitely has potential. I do think it can be improved though.

you want synergy - thats ok with red and black, deflecting anything is a blue characteristic, not fitting in rakdos.

now it´s up to you, to not let me do your decks, but get back into building strong decks

just try it yourself - remove the expensive cards - reduce deck size to ~58, get and add some

I've modified it slightly but not too much. All I did was take out some of the expensive cards like you recommended. Come to find out, taking out some of those cards really improved the deck quite a bit. I only brought the deck down to 66 cards. Additionally, I won multiple times. The only time I had a struggle was against a Plains player because they were able to rapidly gain health by a lot and quickly.

I didn't realize blue was for the use of deflecting. That's how badly out of practice I am, Lol!

The Artifact Galvanic Juggernaut plays really nicely when you add multiple Demonic Appetite cards. I had 2 in my hand with Galvanic Juggernaut and brought it's HP and DP ( Defense Points ) up to 11/11. Then, adding the Goblin Rabblemaster is a nice touch because a new 1/1 Gobin with Haste is added every turn.

Throw all that in with multiple instants that take away 1 HP and 3 HP along with creatures who die cause the player to lose life as well...

This deck is pretty good!
