Clarification re: Withengar Unbound
« on: January 10, 2015, 10:08:31 pm »
Hi guys.

Withengar Unbound: initially starts its life as Elbrus, the Binding Blade. When that blade (colourless equipment fyi) is equipped and damage is inflicted; it then transforms into Withengar Unbound.

There is no mana specified on Withengar Unbound as far as I can see.....so would I need to have black to play him, or would using him in a mono white deck suffice?

ps; I never play commander.

Hello.

So even though the card looks like it would need Black mana of some kind, it does not. As Elbrus, the Binding Blade is a colorless artifact, you may play it in any color deck.

Your mono white deck will be able to use it. Enjoy.

Since withengar unbound is from a colorless artifact and has intimidate, does that mean only artifact creatures can block since it shares no specific color with other creatures?

Hello.

So it appears I was wrong actually. Despite Withengar Unbound not having a Mana Symbol, it does have a color indicator, which is the little black circle under the picture and next to the text, "Legendary Creature". So, Withengar Unbound is actually a Black card. Again, I apologize.

To answer your newest question, Black creatures can block it.

Symmetrical effects are fair.

Cool thanks. That helps me decide how/if to use it
