Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign - The Odds Are in Your Favor (EDH / Commander)

To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!

(-> Your Settings)

Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.

Outside of a dozen or less cards, all other cards have an odd number to take advantage of Yennett's ability.

Cards in this deck allow for Library Top Manipulation that helps in cheating cards you need out onto the battlefield through Yennett's effect.

Without totally being reliant on this commander, cards such as Academy Rector can pull Omniscience or Dream Halls to help cheating out high CMC cards from your hand.

Diplomatic Immunity, Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves and Teferi's Protection help in protecting this commander. With Yenneth being a 5 CMC, I prefer not having to pay any tax in recurring her from her Command Zone. Lotsa fun starts happening when Sakashima the Imposter gets on the field as a copy of Yennett. Imagine casting twice each turn as Yennett attacks. And to answer your question, the answer is YES. Sakashima the Imposter gets around the Legendary Rule. The only other card that does as good if not better is Helm of the Host, but that ends up costing 9 CMC versus Sakashima's 4 CMC.

If your meta-game sees a lot of decks that generate tokens, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Engineered Explosives, Consume the Meek, Toxic Deluge, Austere Command and Night Incarnate can take care of those tokens and small creatures. Since this deck does not run any tokens, and token based decks seem to be all the rage, Engineered Explosives can be placed on the field for no mana. This can readily take care of any tokens since tokens CMC is Zero.

Tax cards provide incentive to not get to greedy in your opponents casting and to attack this deck so readily. Added were: Painful Quandary, Karmic Justice, Dictate of Erebos, Propaganda, Aura of Silence and No Mercy. Grand Abolisher can be easily swapped in the deck if your Meta sees a lot of EOT play. Grand Abolisher will at least stop EOT plays on your turn. Great 1v1 addition for sure.

A few steals are accomplished with Bribery, Mind's Dilation, Treachery, Lord of the Void, and Sen Triplets. This creates some great opportunities, especially if you are playing against the likes of any Ulamog. Note that Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre in this deck may be too powerful, even though it is included at this time. Depends on how friendly you want this deck to be. lol

A few recylable ETBs allow you to take advantage of cards like Magister Sphinx, Archaeomancer, Treachery or to reset any Plainswalker's Loyalties.

Tutors, removals, card draw, recursion round out this deck that allows you to often attack with high powered creatures that have the potential to get through with flying or unblockable abilities.

I think this deck has a lot of potential. This is not a competitive deck, but I believe it is a focused deck that can compete with a lot of different types of opponent's decks.

The side deck is a usable that allows some flexibility for your meta. Note that too many high CMC cards can bog down the flow of the deck; thus, I had swapped some lower CMC cards in since playing with some of the original versions.

I'm always looking for others positive ideas on how to make this deck even better. Please make suggestions. If this deck gave you some ideas on your own deck, your LIKE is greatly appreciated.

Have a MTG kinda day, and thanks for viewing, your Likes, and your comments.

Note: I only use cards that I own; otherwise, any of us could make a $5,000 deck, right? lol

Note: Humble Words of Wisdom:
Just because you throw a lot of money into a deck doesn't mean it will perform well.
Decks need to be built with a focus in mind and synergy throughout. Some of the most fun and playable decks created cost under $500. :)

Your LIKE is always appreciated.
