To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
This deck took awhile to build, and I am always open to suggestions. I believe everything is fairly well balanced including the Lands.
I am impressed with how this deck works synergistically throughout. Angus Mackenzie ends up being an unbelievable Commander and frustrates my opponents. Once you get Angus Mackenzie out, you need to automatically protect her for one turn so that on the following turn, you can use her ability.
Giving her shroud will protect her from being a target. Now that Angus is protected, your plainswalkers are protected when they come out.
Lands like Maze of Ith and Kor Haven are backups for protection along with Teferi's Protection.
Once your battlefield is protected, your creatures and creature tokens can start building up and counters start proliferating quickly along with loyalty counters on your plainswalkers. Support cards in the deck help with this, such as: Doubling Season, Gavony Township, Inexorable Tide, Rings of Brighthearth, Contagion Engine and Deepglow Skate.
There is plenty of board clear, and most of the board clears are for creatures only; so, your plainswalkers remain safe. I run Day of Judgment rather than Wrath of God (even though I love Wrath of God artwork so much more). I do this because I can utilize Yavimaya Hollow to regenerate a target creature. Wrath of God would not allow me to do this. If there is a board clear initiated by an opponent or myself, I will be able to bring back a creature I had on the BF.
Once you get plainswalker's emblems out, the momentum is in your favor and your opponents find they are becoming more and more limited in what they can do.
There are also plenty of cards that deter opponents from attacking, such as: Propaganda, Archangel of Tithes, Aura Thief, False Prophet, Windborn Muse, Academy Rector, Maze of Ith and Kor Haven.
If you are playing against some big hitters like a 12/12, Bribery will take care of that. And once you get out Avacyn, Angel of Hope and a card like Greater Auramancy, you've pretty much locked your battlefield with multiple protections.
High Market is used for protection of mostly Angus. I don't want him turning into a land. Gaea's Cradel and Serra's Sanctum can really generate lots of mana. Oracle of Mul Daya also helps generate double lands on any given turn. I do run all 3 Fetch Lands to help with early game mana fixing.
When an opponent gets some heavy hitters onto their side of the BF, Humility will take care of them. Although it will affect you too, you have the ability to add counters and proliferate creating 1/1 creatures and tokens that soon rise up in Power & Toughness.
Plenty of cards will get you extra drawing power such as: Mind's Eye, Scroll Rack, Consecrated Sphinx, Sylvan Library, Bonds of Mortality and Tatyova, Benthic Druid.
The 12 Plainswalkers are interchangeable; so, have fun selecting your favorites. Personally, I like the ones that feed me creature tokens onto my BF. I also look for ones whose emblems can be achieved on turn one of them coming out. This is achieved easily with Doubling Season and a card like Deepglow Skate.
Overall, it's a hugely fun deck because you have so many options, and once the engine gets rolling, it's one big WOW !!!
Definitely a really good Tier 2, maybe Tier 1.5 at your local. It all depends what you come up against. But mostly, everyone is impressed on how well the deck works.
This is not an early win deck. If you understand that, you will also understand why this is not a tier 1 deck, but if you are out to have fun against your current meta, this could be the deck for you.
Enjoy! - Scott
