Combo
T2-5, looking to improve consistency.
Meta Concerns: Tron feels like one of the worst matchups. Silence is important in this matchup, consider player 4 copies in the 75 if meta remains Tron-heavy after pro tour. -edit: Death and Taxes feels worse than Tron. Not much of it in the meta at the moment, but if it gains in popularity before the GP I'll need to find some way to gain ground.
Against Ts/IoK lists 2 and 3 land hands are much better than in any other matches. Keeping a 1 lander with a bird and a caryatid is an awful feeling in these matches. Otherwise very resilient against a T1 hand disruption spell.
Burn feels great on the play, but really rough on the draw. Eidolon is particularly miserable. Currently siding in one abrupt decay and leaving the other in the board for wish. Is worship worth considering in the board? Are there any other popular decks in the current meta I'd want it? Caryatid is very good here, buys an extra turn all by itself most games.
General:
I think we need one more spell we can cast from the graveyard, either with flashback or aftermath (maybe madness? nagging thoughts is great so far). Faithless looting? Desperate Ravings? Other? I want to be able to cast it during combo to keep digging and stretch the reach/avoid the land heavy stalls. -edit: Shaun brings up a great suggestion in Claim // Fame. Gives some haste recursion to combo out of nowhere, is a +1 spell, gives me a play from the graveyard.
What is the right number of phyrexian mana spells to accelerate combo? Started with 2, up to 3. So far feels good, haven't tried 4 yet. Don't know what I would cut for another. Opt? -edit: I've cut opt for Quicken. Very happy with it so far. Considering 2 GS/1 Noxious Revival if Noble Heirarch and BoP's continue to pop up so frequently.
How often is manamorphose actually better than a one mana cantrip? Often forces me to wait until turn after Ascendancy is resolved where 1 mana cantrips allow me to go off same turn frequently. -edit: down to 3 mm in the main.
Wacky Timmy thought: Could this be a home for Emrakul, the Promised End? Reliably generate 8-12 mana even when combo fizzles on draws. Would need to add artifacts, maybe tribal. Artifacts already in consideration include Relic of Progenitus, Tormod's Crypt, Nihil Spellbomb and Hangarback Walker.
