The point of this deck is to constantly be sacrificing bloodghasts for their effects. As such this is mulligan heavy in order to get that combo off; you either get 1 buried alive in your starting hand, or at least 1 bloodghast to get things rolling. Beyond that the power combinations are with Viscera Seer paired with Kalastria Highborn or with a Blood Artist with Sanguine Bond then there is always the ability to pop a Blood Tribute for lethal with the kicker. The rest of the cards are filler for control to buy you the time to get one of these combos out. The versatility comes with creature control, where you can always keep an enemies map completely clear with a single grave pact on the board. If you are not playing against a creature deck or a tempo deck get rid of grave pact in place for another thoughtsieze or hymms in order to clear out his hand early + mid game. Gatekeeper of Malikir is great fodder if you dont have a bloodghast available and gets rid of a creature on your opponents side.

Overall the deck plays pretty smoothly, you usually work through about half your deck in a 7-10 turn game (4-6 turn for you as the player) with either a viscera seer and/or dark prophecy on the board and then the dark rituals + culling add a nice suplement of mana to get some of those pricey combo cards out a bit earlier.
