Copy of: Clerics! (Before Zendikar Rising) (EDH / Commander)

For Magic Online (MTGO):

To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!

(-> Your Settings)

Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.

Please select the columns you would like to see:

Cleric tribal with all their demonic and angelic fiends.

Possible changes based on Zendikar Rising and Commander Legends Spoilers so far:
Add:
Cleric of Life's Bond
Orah, Skyclave Hierophant (as commander)
Brightclimb Pathway // Grimclimb Pathway
Taborax, Hope's Demise
Thwart the Grave
Vault of Champions
Attended Healer
Expedition Healer
Relic Vial

I would like to fit in (I have copies of these cards):
Sin Collector (To deal with Buyback and counter spells)
Transmutation (For the combo)
Whisper, Blood Liturgist (nice with Orah, Skyclave Hierophant)
Arcane Signet
Jet Medallion
Pearl Medallion
Martyr's Bond

Combos:
Fetch lands or Lotus Field and Tithe or Weathered Wayfarer (lower land count so that Tithe can get 2 plains or Weathered Wayfarer can get any land)
Daru Spiritualist and Shaman en-Kor (Gives any cleric unlimited toughness) add Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim or Disciple of Griselbrand or Starlit Sanctum to get unlimited life. Adding Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose makes the life gain lethal. (Add Transmutation to the deck to make this a lethal combo with Starlit Sanctum second ability.)
Leonin Relic-Warder or Fiend Hunter and any sacrifice (sacrifice the creature with the enter the battlefield trigger on the stack to make the exile permanent)
High Priest of Penance and Shaman en-Kor (redirect damage to High Priest of Penance to trigger its ability) Add Daru Spiritualist or Ravos, Soultender to have High Priest of Penance survive the damage.
Scion of Darkness and Fellwar Stone to provide off-color mana for any abilities of creatures animated by Scion of Darkness
Birthing Boughs and Shieldmage Elder to have Wizards to activate the second ability of Shieldmage Elder (There are lots of clerics available to activate the first)

Why not add...
Bojuka Bog - Comes into play tapped
Concealed Courtyard - Comes into play tapped
Shambling Vent - Comes into play tapped
Reliquary Tower - Hand size has not been an issue but colored mana can be.
Unclaimed Territory - Does not help with non-Cleric spells, could be used as a budget Cavern of Souls.
Evolving Wilds - Basic Land comes into play tapped
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - Not a lot of devotion in this deck
Cabal Coffers - Does too little when Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is not out. (Deck only has 5 swamps including dual lands, 3 swamps needed on the battlefield for this to be only as good as a swamp)
Orzhov Guildgate - Because it sucks
Terramorphic Expanse - See Evolving Wilds
Swords to Plowshares - Generous Gift is more versatile.
Anguished Unmaking - Generous Gift is more versatile, but the exile may make this better.
Smothering Tithe - Cheaper mana rocks provide the mana. The deck is a little too tight on space to include this card even though it fits the theme.
Arcane Signet - Probably should be in instead of some of the other mana rocks. It is likely to come in soon.
Utter End - Generous Gift is cheaper and more versatile, but the exile may make this better. But, Anguished Unmaking would come in first.
Vindicate - This is a Sorcery
Phyrexian Arena - Too redundant because the Commander's are providing this type of card advantage.
Path to Exile - Generous Gift is more versatile.
Mortify - Generous Gift is more versatile.
Sanguine Bond - Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose is cheaper to cast and a Cleric. The life gain sub-theme is not big enough to justify the more expensive version.
Wrath of God - Currently in, but I'm considering removing it along with Damnation and Kaya's Wrath. If I keep one of these in Wrath of God would be the one.
Mangara, the Diplomat - Too new. It is well liked because it is a white card that draws card, but I am not sure that this is better than the alternative card advantage in this deck.
Soul Warden, Suture Priest, Soul's Attendant - Life gain is too passive to rely on exclusively. The clerics that are more interactive are included instead.
Bygone Bishop - I'm probably underrating Clue tokens, but I don't think this is any more effective than the card advantage already in the deck.
Pontiff of Blight - There is not usually a lot of excess colored mana around to power this. Also keeping mana open for the instants is a good play style.
Skirsdag High Priest - Rite of Belzenlok and Hall of Heliod's Generosity fill this role better.
Liliana, Heretical Healer - I'm probably underrating this card. I'm not a big fan of Planeswalkers. This could fit, but I'm not sure what to take out.
Frontline Medic - I'm probably underrating this card. It requires attacking with a lot of creatures so it takes a bit to setup. This could fit, but I'm not sure what to take out.
Athreos, God of Passage - Heliod is the God used in this deck because Heliod creates cleric tokens. This is comparable to Ravos, Soultender and worth considering, but I'm not sure what to take out.

Vorthos 'Facts' about this deck:
Gangrenous Goliath represents a zombiefied Sun Titan that the clerics try (and fail) to get back to its former glory after a bad death.
Heliod has a hall of generosity but it is mostly just for show and irony.
The main team is called 'Cultist' because Hanweir Militia Captain initially did not to be called a cleric. (The captain eventually comes around.)
