Crabshift (Modern)

A version of Scapeshift that works to mill out your opponent with landfall triggers off of Hedron Crab and Ruin Crab.

It plays standard cards from the archetype (Farseek, Sakura-Tribe Elder, and Scapeshift), but replaces Sakura-Tribe Scout with Enter the Unknown since you should always have a Crab on the battlefield, making the card a virtual 1 mana Explore. Scryb Ranger is a cute card that can let us replay our forests if we need to and also helps support Spellstutter Sprite in the midgame.

Since this deck is blue instead of red, removal is much more... creative. The options in blue-green are pretty pitiful. I've chosen to go with a tempo strategy based on Retraction Helix (see the Enter the Unknown explanation above) and faeries with Spellstutter Sprite. Although Retraction Helix can't target Scryb Ranger, it can potentially allow you to bounce two creatures in one turn by untapping a creature previously targeted with Retraction Helix. Retraction Helix could be replaced with Stern Dismissal, which is always playable but will never do double duty and cannot hit artifacts.

Other removal packages could use snow lands, Ice-Fang Coatl, and Winter's Rest, but both of these are very reactive so I give the nod to faeries. This also allows you to run Iceberg Cancrix over Scryb Ranger. I don't value Cancrix very highly (costs more and mills less), but deserves a mention for the more adventurous.

The only other texture to the deck is the inclusion of 2 Mystic Sanctuary to potentially recur a Scapeshift to finish the opponent off on the next turn.
