To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Viewing revision 41. There is a more recent version of this deck.
This deck started out as a janky Oops, All Sorceries! deck. Over time, that deck became Charm Tribal, which then went on to become Chromanticore aura tribal and Ramos Charms. However, a Void was left in my spellslinging-timmy-heart that needed to be filled. Umori seemed like the perfect fit for a deck with only one card type, so I decided on golgari sorceries. Even though I run some non-sorcery spells in the list now, I have still shied away from things like Bear Umbra, Beledros Witherbloom, and Mana Reflection, even though they would help in the "play big stuff" plan, because I want the mana to feel "fair." This is why you don't see Woodland Guidance or Rude Awakening in the mainboard, even though they fit the theme. Also, no Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Cabal Coffers package in here either. Again, "fair" mana.
That's the main line because Skull Storm is really hard to get around, especially with how many board wipes we have. Hope your opponent doesn't run Mindbreak Trap.
Here's a helpful rule to calculate how many Skull Storms you need to kill your opponent. ...And yes, you CAN kill your opponent exclusively with Skull Storm, because half of 1 is 0.5 and 0.5 rounded up is 1, meaning they lose their last life point. Plenty of people misunderstand that, so I thought I would mention it.
Skull Storms | Life Total |
---|---|
1 Storms | 1 or less Life |
2 Storms | 3 or less Life |
3 Storms | 7 or less Life |
4 Storms | 15 or less Life |
5 Storms | 31 or less Life |
6 Storms | 63 or less Life |
7 Storms | 127 or less Life |
Of course, you could just cast huge spells over and over instead! I always found Neverending Torment less fun than 20 skull storms, but to each their own.
P.S: Yes, I run Seedtime in the 99. Yes, I have played games where none of my opponents even have blue in their deck, but it kind of rules.
Sorcery Tribal. Simple as.
Lots of pet cards and niche removal here for my playgroup. If you want to build something like this, probably build it from scratch. And message me your list! YMMV with this deck.
There's a few wincons, and lots of tutors/draw.
Praetor's Counsel + Neverending Torment can usually remove a player from the game each turn. (Even better when copied!)
Choice of Damnations or Skull Storm or Curse of the Cabal can be recurred and cast again and again.
Command the Dreadhorde, Breach the Multiverse, and a bunch of other recursion can make up for not having creatures. Board wipes can keep you alive until you reach that point.
And of course, you can copy all of this with Mirari or Twinning Staff or Lithoform Engine.
