To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!

(-> Your Settings)

Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.

A social/75%/level 3 deck with some bells and whistles. Designed for an environment with no quick wins, fast infinite combos, or mass land destruction - but with plenty of board wipes and spot removal. Replacing the three ABUR duals and enemy fetches does wonders for the price.

The goal is to start launching at least one huge Angel or Dragon a turn starting by turn 5. So there are lots of ramp and related cards, and also some control and utility cards to help get there.

The self constraint for the deck is that the big (5+ power) creatures are mostly Angels and Dragons, in equal numbers, with any other big ones needing to be non-flyers that directly support them. There are lots of more devastating creatures that could be added without the restriction ( Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger , Blazing Archon , Terastodon , Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre , etc...) but it's nice to have people want to play EDH with you! Iona, Shield of Emeria might have crossed the line for some groups too... but I liked having it their when it was legal.

"Only" 27 of the cards can enter via Mayael, so you'll whiff once in a while - but you should have mana to hard cast them, and there are several cards to help either control the top of the deck, return the dead from the graveyard, or draw cards.

Tooth and Nail , Genesis Wave , and the like might be ok since none of the creatures are auto-win (and Defense of the Heart should certainly be ok), but I've opted to use non-tutor deck access.

Cards to consider for your Mayael Deck - A lot of the cards in the deck are the obvious ones that show up on EDHREC for Mayael, or are generic staples. Others are here because I've chosen to focus on Angels and Dragons and they might be on the chopping block if I threw out that restriction. Here are a few that don't come up with EDHREC that seem like they should:

Aurelia, the Warleader - The downside of Aurelia is that it doesn't come out using Mayael and it's expensive for a 3/4 (RRWW2). On the other hand, it lets everyone attack twice, including the first turn it comes out. That's a pretty nice upside.

Sarkhan Vol - Give Mayael or another creature haste, or take someone else's creature and attack with it (including on its first turn), or (if it lives that long) put five flyers on the field. What's not to love?

Urabrask the Hidden - Your guys get haste, their's come into play tapped. So what if it costs five and Mayael can't bring it out.

Yosei, the Morning Star - A great way to discourage wrath effects or attacking you with something big and blockable.

To shake things up, the following twelve Dinosaurs work pretty well in place of the Angels: Burning Sun's Avatar , Carnage Tyrant , Etali, Primal Storm , Ghalta, Primal Hunger , Gishath, Sun's Avatar , Polyraptor , Regal Behemoth , Silverclad Ferocidons , Thundering Spineback , Sun-Crowned Hunters , Wayward Swordtooth , and Zacama, Primal Calamity . (And now Apex Altisaur as a choice).
