Alternative Title: HEEEEEEEEYYY, SEXY PONZA!
Based on original idea by Rich Lipman for Inquest #17 (#18, September 1996, p.24-5)
Original Description:
"To play this deck, remember to use the Stone Rains and Thermokarsts first because the Pillages serve double duty. Also, if you have a choice early on of landkill or a creature, you almost always want to landkill to keep your opponent's creatures from getting out of the starting gate."
"Remember: when playing an Elvish Ranger, use the one with the 'good' art."
Original Decklist: Your typical Ponza-style Deck made when Ice Age and Alliances were dominating Standard. Notable for the one copy of the token, yet sexy, Terese Nielsen-drawn Elvish Ranger alongside savage bruisers Balduvian Horde and Johtull Wurm.
This Decklist: While I can't guarantee you will completely stop your opponent from casting at least one card, you can be sure to screw with their mana base, especially if dual lands are their go-to for fetching. Utility creatures that stay on the sidelines can be stopped by Abrade. (your Pillage analogue) Meanwhile, your druids and shamen can each wallop at most 2 points on your opponent's cranium, or pound the drums to help cast spectacular spells (Banefire and the Hydra).
Just to rub it in on the other team's wrecked resources, the other Terese Nielsen-drawn card Eternal Witness can salvage cards from your graveyard for an extra turn.
Make things interesting by replacing the Visionaries with Gruul Spellbreaker or swapping in one drops like Goblin Guide and Rakdos Cackler.
