[Optimized - 8] Zur the Enchanter - Reanimator/Control (EDH / Commander)

Strategy

• No Thassa's Oracle or other generic combo package.
• This Zur the Enchanter build aims to make Zur's tutor ability usable for a reanimator deck.
• In addition to the classic Animate Dead like enchantments, Necropotence is central to this deck.

Gameplan

Necropotence line of play

• Ramp and hardcast Necropotence
• Or ramp out Zur asap while having protection up and search for Necropotence
  Ideally, there are already options ready to return a permanent to your hand (e.g. Otawara, Soaring City) or to remove one (e.g. Beseech the Mirror or Vanishing Verse). If no option is in your hand, drawn instant speed options can be used before discard.
• Usually between 15 and 20 cards can be drawn and the Necropotence removed to fill the graveyard with discard in the cleanup step.
• If a reanimation spell is ready and Resolute Archangel is in your hand or graveyard or a suitable tutor is available, you can draw significantly more cards depending on the board state.
• From there on, the aim is to use card and value advantage to keep your opponents at bay and finally defeat them with reanimation targets through combat damage.

Win condition

• The primary win condition is to outvalue your opponents through reanimation of creatures like Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur or Vilis, Broker of Blood and through mass resurrection of powerhouses by using Living Death or Twilight's Call.

• Reanimation and protection of Trench Gorger, removing ~30 lands from the game.

Notable interactions - draw big / no hands for opponents

• Windfall and Notion Thief - Each player discard their hands and you draw a lot of cards

• Cephalid Coliseum + Notion Thief - Target opponent must discard 3 cards and you draw 3 cards

• Reanimate Vilis, Broker of Blood to draw 8

• Use reanimation on Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur to draw 7 in the end step

• Necropotence, Razaketh, the Foulblooded and Resolute Archangel - Draw any number of cards with Necropotence by sacrificing the angel and search for a new reanimation effect as often as manawise possible. The last tutor in this chain can be used to bounce/remove the Necropotence and discard.
