Bant Awaken Control (Standard)

With an eye forward to the next set, this deck takes a new spin on control. With the versatility of Awaken sorceries and instants, early game cards like Clutch of Currents and Encircling Fissure become late-game powerhouses allowing you to swing in with your lands for lethal damage.

Tide Drifter acts as a brilliant wall and gives all of our Awakened lands an extra point of toughness. Halimar Tidecaller is an all-star here, able to return a bounce or counter spell back to our hand and give all of our Awakened lands flying (that's quite scary!). Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper turns all of our non-Awaken instants and sorceries into Awaken 3 with a 4/4 body to boot.

Ondu Rising is probably the most important Awaken card here, with the potential for huge life swings. Planar Outburst is the board wipe specifically designed for this deck--in many games we will lose one, maybe two creatures, while the other side loses all of theirs. Nissa's Renewal gives us the ammo we need (land) and adds in some nice survivability with the life gain.

Lumbering Falls is the all-star land here. If we lose our board position, we still have a 3/3 hexproofer swinging in every turn, which in many cases might be the difference between winning or losing.
