29AUG20: This deck has been given a major overhaul which includes the deletion of all previous changelogs from this summary text box. Please see the "Revisions" tab for this decks complete history. Blockquoted comments below were taken from Nivitch’s Ikra/Tymna Dead Farm Primer located at https://www.moxfield.com/decks/iENJYH9dxkGekqTdLcKOiQ. Reminder citations will be used to over exemplify borrowed synopses [I mean, why rewrite perfection? Amirite?].

In 2020, it has been my effort (and others on the Kaalia cEDH Discord) to reduce the number of dead cards while offering the maximum amount of protection/interaction in Mardu colors. If this deck has a weakness, it is that we lack the value-oriented card advantage engines that Ux decks possess. That said, I believe you will find the number and types of protection/interaction included in this decklist to be sufficient. This is a PROACTIVE version of the deck, and as such, it is trying to assemble the combo win as quickly as possible (similar to a First Sliver FoodChain.dec). For piloting preferences, please refer to the detailed chaîne opératoire summary listed in the Combo dropdown section below.

> What is a Farm Deck?

Simply put, a farm deck is a deck that looks to maximize speed at the expense of individual card quality and abuse the card draw potential of Ad Nauseam and Peer into the Abyss to win. - Nivitch

Because the cEDH version of Kaalia of the Vast employs a high density of large CMC creatures (Razaketh, WGD, Vilis, Bogardan Hellkite etc.), Ad Naus is a card perceived by the community at large as having diminished value in this deck. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are more than able to harness the pure draw power of Ad Nauseam AND Necropotence in this shell. As indicated below in the Combo section, there are timing restrictions which must be played around when attempting to win via Necropotence.

Farm decks cross a variety of color identities (a list of which can be found below) but they all stem from the core deck building philosophy of Rivermaycry’s initial deck, Mad Farm. - Nivitch

> Reference List of Farm Variants

Mad Farm- Mardu colors, typically lead by Tymna the Weaver+ Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder. The first Farm deck, still viable if somewhat out performed by Blue Farm in the current meta. For an example of Mad Farm check out this deck by RiverMayCry (https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mad-farm/).

Bad Farm- Abzan Colors, typically lead by Tymna the Weaver+ Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper. A potent deck that can be seen as this Dead Farm's parent, similar to Mad Farm in so far as it’s outshined by Blue Farm in the current meta despite being able to hold its own. Dead Farm is technically a varient of Bad Farm given the only determining factor of the a Bad Farm list is a deck that utilizes a Turbo Ad Nauseam strategy in Abzan Colors though Dead Farm has distinct differences which I believe warrant distinction from a typical Bad Farm List. For a different, more orthodox, take on Bad Farm here is a list by Leptys (https://www.moxfield.com/decks/vozlLm9Hyki2PFvBcJlGBg/primer).

Blue Farm- Sans Green variant, typically lead by Tymna the Weaver+ Kraum, Ludevic’s Opus. The Farm deck to beat due to it’s color identity which grants access to everything a Farm deck could desire as well as the two draw engines in the command zone. For an example of Blue Farm check out this list by RiverMayCry (https://www.moxfield.com/decks/0QeVpSQJEEaz_bEzdu_Adw).

5-Color- Typically lead by Kenrith, the Returned King or Golos, Tireless Pilgrim, has access to all colors and as such, has access to all of the above mentioned benefits at the cost of a somewhat less focused deck. Golos is notable for its ability to find Boseiju, Who Shelters All upon resolution, an amazing card that makes Ad Nauseam uncounterable. The first is a Golos list by NaturalKRUNCH (https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Fo0D4tE8w026omz-6fLEmg/primer) and the second is a Kenrith list by Ishmonkin (https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/kenrith-the-mad-king-4/?cb=1586446547). - Nivitch

> Why Kaalia ADD Farm and not UGx Farm?

To Be Further Completed

You may like Kaaila ADD Farm if:

  1. You like to pilot fast, high powered decks that don’t fold if staxed out
  2. You enjoy intricate combo turns that treat your graveyard and library as extensions of your hand
  3. You don’t shy away from using your life as a resource.
  4. You’re tired of sitting behind counter spells and would rather maneuver the game state in a more unorthodox manner. - Nivitch

You may not like Kaalia ADD Farm if:

  1. Prefer to play a more reactive game plan
  2. Try to avoid moving parts and intricate combos
  3. Require certainty to complete a potentially game ending action
  4. Care more for individually impressive cards than combinations of cards which synergize to create an equal or even greater impact play. - Nivitch

> Combos

Worldgorger Loop

This decks’ primary combo-kill condition is to use Worldgorger Dragon and Animate Dead-like effects to create an infinite mana loop and end the game via an infinite damage payoff. Our commander also provides the unique cEDH circumstance of potentially grinding out an aggro win via combat damage – though this is not the preferred route to victory.

> Commander-Enabled WGD Loop

In the early turns, ramp into enough mana to cast Kaalia of the Vast while simultaneously tutoring for Razaketh, the Foulblooded to your hand. The combo line is listed in detail below.

Razaketh-enabled Combo Line
**[Mana Needed - 1WWBB]**
Step 1: Cast/Resolve Kaalia
Step 2: Put Razaketh onto the battlefield via Kaalia's ability.
Step 3: Sacrifice Kaalia to Razaketh's ability and tutor for Leonin Relic-Warder (LRW).
Step 4: Cast/Resolve LRW [WW] - *preferably targeting one of your own black mana producing rocks*
Step 5: Sacrifice LRW to Razaketh's ability and tutor for Animate Dead (AD).
Step 6: Cast/Resolve AD [1B], targeting LRW in your graveyard.
Step 7: When LRW enters the battlefield, target the AD with the LRW's ETB trigger. When AD leaves the battlefield, it's leave-the-battlefield trigger will go on the stack. Before it resolves, sacrifice LRW to Razaketh's ability, tutoring for Entomb.
Step 8: Repeat Step 7 above, this time tutoring for Pyromatics.
Step 9: With the AD ETB trigger on the stack (previously exiled by LRW), cast Entomb [B] tutoring for Worldgorger Dragon (WGD) and putting it into your graveyard. Let the AD trigger resolve targeting WGD to enter into the unbounded loop - tapping your lands for mana each time they come into play.
Step 10: Continue generating mana until you can kill the table with replicated copies of Pyromatics.

> Necropotence-Enabled WGD Loop

**[Mana Needed - 2BB]**
Step 1: Cast/Resolve Necropotence
Step 2: Pay as much life as you can to set aside the top "X" cards of your library (preferably 39 cards).
Step 3: Enter into the End Step and place the cards into your hand.
Step 4: Discard down to handsize, ensuring that you discard both WGD and Spikeshot Elder into the graveyard. Place the Necropotence discard-exile trigger on the stack.
Step 5: With the trigger still on the stack, cast Necromancy at instant speed to reanimate WGD, initiating the infinite mana loop.
Step 6a: After generating infinite mana by tapping your lands every time WGD enters the battlefield, use the last Necromancy ETB to target the Spikeshot Elder in your graveyard. Use Spikeshot's ability to kill the table.
Step 6b: If the Spikeshot line gets disrupted or is unavailable, cast Pyromatics (plus a requisite number of replicated copies) to kill the table.

> DeadCat Devil

**[Mana Needed - 2BBR]**
Step 1: Ensure Leonin Relic-Warder is in your graveyard.
Step 2: Cast/Resolve Mayhem Devil [1BR].
Step 3: Cast Animate Dead [1B], targeting the LRW in your graveyard.
Step 4: LRW enters the battlefield, which initiates the DeadCat loop.
Step 5: Mayhem Devil deals 1 damage for every iteration.

> Stitcher's-Breach

**[Mana Needed - 1BBR]**
Step 1: Cast/Resolve Underworld Breach
Step 2: [In Hand or Graveyard] Cast/Resolve Stitcher's Supplier, mill the top three cards of your library.
Step 3: {In Hand or Graveyard] Cast/Resolve Culling the Weak, sacrificing Supplier as part of the additional cost. Add four Black mana [BBBB} and mill the top three cards of your library.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 & 3 by using the six cards milled with Stitcher's Supplier to pay the recurring escape costs. This will also net you two Black mana [BB] each iteration.
Step 5: If you began this engine with at least three cards in your graveyard, you can filter through your library until you find the deck's main WGD combo and cast that for the win. Otherwise, you can mill your entire library and cast Praetor's Grasp targeting an opponents Thassa's Oracle for the win [using Lotus Petal to generate the UU in it's casting cost].

Stitcher's-Breach vs Wheel-Breach

Card Differences
Stitcher's Breach --> Underworld Breach, Stitcher's Supplier, and Culling the Weak [Mana Needed - 1BBR].
Wheel Breach --> Underworld Breach, Lion's Eye Diamond, and Wheel of Fortune [Mana Needed - 1R].

The preference of Stitcher's Breach over Wheel Breach in this build is directly tied to certain card advantage/interaction inequalities suffered by non-UG decks in cEDH. Therefore, I feel that the act of cycling most - if not all - of the cards through each of your opponents hands with Wheel Breach is much more of a detriment to our gameplan and only aids in theirs, e.g., think of a Howling Mine that lets your opponents draw 50 cards. You wouldn't play Howling Mine in cEDH, so it only makes sense that you wouldn't play Wheel Breach unless you have some way to break parity - such as your own Notion Thief, etc. Secondly, we are a reanimation strategy at heart and what Stitcher's Breach allows us to do is quasi-surveil through the top of our library, while generating a bounded quantity of Black mana for use in our combos; not to mention the addition benefit of Culling/Breaching Dockside Extortionist or Lotus Petal for non-black mana.
