Heavy dimir control. Lots of card draw and cycling. Should have no issues being able to use most of whatever is in your hand or getting to whatever you need.
Thief of Sanity with aqueous form ? No brainer.
Circu, Dimir lobotomist? Almost a necessity in a dimir deck. You’re getting a free exile two cards per spell on a target players library. 90% of the spells you’ll play are black/blue.
Lazav? All them cards you’ll be milling your opponents out, bound to be some good creatures and the best part is, you can do it WHENEVER a creature card hits the graveyard, from ANYWHERE. On opponents turns. On your turn. Whenever. That’s HUGE creature and card advantage.
Jace? Come on. He’s got a damn 0 ability glimpse the unthinkable. Hypothetically you could mill somebody out in 2 turns with 4 glimpse the unthinkables in hand and a jace on the field.
Baleful strix ? Only the most broken 2 drop in all of dimir practically. Flying death touch and card draw. What more could you need from a damn 2 drop ?
Undead Alchemist ? Well, that’s just for shits and giggles. All else fails, all the creatures hitting the graveyard from milling out your opponents, is gonna create a LOT of zombie creature tokens to overwhelm your opponents. UPDATE took these out, as useful as they COULD have been, doesn’t really fit the theme of the deck. More land and adding The Magic Mirror flows better. Magic mirror you essentially play for 3 mana, since this deck burns through instants and sorceries. Should have no issues playing this card, ult off jace, 20 cards in hand, reshuffle graveyard into library with elixir, etc etc.
The rest of the spells are pretty straight forward, propaganda for board control/defense. Brainstorm for hand synergy/set up and card cycling. Cyclonic rift to turn a game around or just annoy an opponent. And remand. Yes, remand over counterspell and mana drain. Why ? Well, unless your friends have absolutely an anything goes rule, counterspell is pretty powerful and most kitchen table rules like to rule it out, and remand is probably one of the best substitutes because you’re forcing a card back to hand, and getting a card draw out of it. Even though it’s going back to the hand of the opponent, you made them waste that tapped mana, you know what to expect now. Reccomended use when an opponent is making big plays/tapping out so they can’t retap to just play it again.
Mana drain, if you can afford that for one, you’re pretty damn well off and there’s wayyyyy more ways to make this deck better with cards from legacy that costs hundreds upon thousands. Also, you’re just a dick if you’re using mana drain to begin with.
Anyways, this deck will play smooth and consistent 99% of the time, really fun to play. Hard to beat, puts up a good challenge.
