To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Blue-red duals are very powerful in Pioneer and enable Chainwhirler alongside another color much better than Rakdos
Stubborn Denial is one of the best pieces of interaction in Pioneer, and Blue-Red is best suited to enable its Ferocious mode early between Bonecrusher Giant and the best Heart of Kiran access in the format (due to The Royal Scions). Although this card loses a bit of value in the main in an Oko-less aggro-intensive format, it is at least an incredible sideboard card
Treasure Cruise / Dig Through Time should function as a mirror-breaker with Big Red, and solves a big issue the deck has of lacking card draw / running out of steam. Mono-red aggro curves topping out at Treasure Cruise have been explored before, but may not have with Big Red
Heart of Kiran is resilient to Red's removal suite (also important in the mirror, though notably trash against Rekindling Phoenix) while also dodging UW's board wipes.
Brazen Borrower has shown itself to be one of the strongest pieces of interaction in the format plays well with Bonecrusher Giant
As Big Red has become increasingly aggressive, leaning more into aggro (Soul-Scar Mage, Goblin Rabblemaster, Torbran), the deck has become better suited for The Royal Scions. 3-drops besides Rabblemaster in the main have become increasingly important in a world where everybody is maining 12+ ways to kill your Rabblemaster before combat.
Deck is not currently able to effectively utilize the Draw 2 Discard 2 mode of Izzet Charm, however Treasure Cruise is a start and Escape cards in TBD may change this. NOTE: Returning to this deck after TBD's spoiler makes me think Phoenix of Ash may have a home in this deck (resilient aggro is a very good place to be right now).
It's possible that the mana is now too painful and give aggro decks too much of an edge
Currently having difficult time finding space for Brazen Borrowers, Soul-Scar Mage makes it so that you want interaction to be based around burn damage
Need more practice with Big Red to understand the cards the deck wishes it could cut. Initial impressions make me believe Rabblemaster is poorly positioned in the main, Lightning Strike does too little, and Torbran is the worst of the 4 drops. Solving these could be a poor evaluation of the reason to be a second color. Would Big Red play Izzet Charm over Lightning Strike if it could? It doesn't play Magma Spray over Wild Slash, and it doesn't play Mizzium Mortars over Lightning Strike.
This deck has more maindeck legends than Big Red due to Scions and Heart, and could have that count raised by playing Torbran. At what point can a copy of Jaya's Immolating Inferno be considered?
The Royal Scions and Heart of Kiran were much more pressing deckbuilding considerations when UW Control was a big part of the meta, but now that that deck is horribly positioned, is warping the deck to be even stronger against boardwipes at all a priority?
I'm not sure this deck should be so confident it can protect The Royal Scions in a format with Mono Black and Big Red as two of the most powerful decks.
Earthshaker Khenra may have a home in this deck due to its synergy with Scions/Charm
This deck may be an attempt to include straight interaction in a deck that really doesn't want to interact unless it has to. Games in which you are forced to interact are probably not all that favorable for Big Red, and Izzet Charm doesn't push you in the right direction there
Disdainful Stroke is absolutely bonkers in the format right now, being a desperately needed axis of counterplay against Green Ramp/Niv decks
Heart of Kiran interestingly provides resilience to even your own copies of Anger of the Gods, a card which would be remarkable in the mirror or Mono Black matchups, which are a huge deal. Adding blue positions this deck well to take on fellow aggro matchups as the control deck between the two.
