To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Primarily a Self Mill deck, using all aspects of Konrads ability to deal damage to your opponents!
Having Konrad on the table is a MUST, as all of the synergies are based on his doing the damage. There are 3 ways to protect him, it is not necessary to get Konrad in to play immediately as the deck has enough value/removal to hold on until he hits the table, so sometimes waiting a few turns is best.
Mindcrank is the best card in the deck, often spiraling the game into a win all by itself! Konrad + Mindcrank + 1 Activation of Konrads ability = everyone mills 1, and if ANY creatures are milled, everyone takes 1 damage and Mindcrank makes them mill again! EVIL!
Doom Whisperer is your best combo starter. Doom Whisperer + Konrad = pay 2 life, mill yourself for 2, hit as many creatures as possible. When combined with one of the 3 infect cards on Konrad, it's a guarantee'd win. Sometimes adding Life Link to Konrad is fun as well, so that you can freely dig through your deck and gain all of the life.
4 tutors, counting Dimir House Guard, which is used to get either Crypt Ghast as your best mana ramp or Grafted Exoskeleton, if you are ready to finish the game. Even if you cast it, it's a handy free sacrifice outlet. Increasing Ambition is great in this deck due to the possibility that you will mill it away by accident.
There are a number of Demon's in the deck (hence the name) each with their own synergies with the deck.
The Cauldron of Eternity and Nightmare Shepherd - These two cards might seem to be a bit counter productive to your strategy, since they exile cards from your graveyard. However, Konrad's text states "When a creature leaves your graveyard": Cauldron of Eternity says "When a creature dies, put it on the bottom of your library." This does NOT include the word 'Instead', which means the creature hits your graveyard upon death, then LEAVES your graveyard to the bottom of the deck, thereby triggering Konrad twice on a single death! Nightmare Shepherd works the same way, except it exiles the creature, causing it to also LEAVE your graveyard.
A very fun deck that can win out of nowhere. Enjoy, let me know what you think or any suggestions!
