To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
----- Intro:
This is a UG artifact deck with an emphasis on large board states and buffs.
This deck plays similarly to a combo or storm deck in that we can very quickly create wins from nowhere.
--- The Plan:
Tanazir's 2nd ability allows us to turn normally worthless creatures into hulking behemoths, provided his power is high enough.
We leverage this by using a draw engine based on playing cheap creatures or artifacts.
[[Beast Whisperer]] or [[Vedalkan Archmage]] effects allow us to quickly dump our deck onto the board, with [[Nylea, Keen-Eyed]] and similar discount effects accelerating this even further
We use colorless 0, 1 and 2 CMC creatures in excess to fuel our engine.
Voltron style equipments like [[blackblade reforged]] give us the buffs we need to use Tanazir's 2nd ability, as well as give us commander damage as an alternate wincon.
----- Notes:
In most cases you will want to replay Tanazir on death regardless of the cost associated.
Our deck is fairly ramp heavy, but our average CMC is low due to the presence of so many 0-3 CMC creatures. We will often be able to replay Tanazir quickly if he dies, even if it costs our entire turn.
Haste, whether as an equipment like [[lightning greaves]] or board wide buff like [[crashing drawbridge]] are very important for this deck. Tanazir will likely die often, and without him, we have nothing.
Board wide haste sources are rare in UG. If budget allows, I recommend including [[Akroma's Memorial]].
----- Optional Changes
This deck uses equipment-based buffs for tanazir, but you could easily use auras or counters as well.
Auras and counters will likely give you faster and better results for the mana you spend, however you will lose all of them if tanazir dies.
If you prefer a slower playstyle, you could swap out the colorless creatures and discounts for more expensive creatures with better text, e.g. unblockable, flying, landwalk or haste.
Most of these creatures won't be discountable to 0 mana due to having colored mana in the cost, but each creature will be more potent.
You might prefer to change out some of the colorless mana dorks in the ramp section for better mana rocks or [[kodama's reach]] effects.
This will make the creature based draw engine less reliable however.
This deck runs no counterspells as they interfere with the creature-based draw effects. If you wanted to include some, make sure you include more reliable draw sources.
