Without access to planeswalkers, UW control requires more threats to effectively win games. While other builds have looked towards dream trawler and playing to the board, Jeskai has taken the old reliable strategy of pointing lightning bolts at your opponents face until they die.
Beyond planeswalkers, one of the harsher losses to UWx, has been Sphinx's Revelation, which stablises via lifegain and card draw. Which in this build has been replaced with the slightly more expensive, Expansion//Explosion. While like any other burn card, explosion can be used to double as removal, it also gives the deck the additional reach it needs to close out a game.
Due to the high density of creature removal in traditional, opting to only run 6 creatures and 2 colonnades means that you will often be left without a means of attack against fair and interactive decks and live on the back of bolts. However against linear decks with little removal these small threats are likely to close out a game.
