Grave Tidings (EDH / Commander) [Revision 62]

What once started as Ikoria commander pre-con Enhanced Evolution has been completely reworked with a new commander and honed purpose. 'Muldrotha, the Gravetide' enables a recurring shell of utility permanents for ramp ('Wayfarer's Bauble', 'Ordeal of Nylea', 'Font of Fertility', 'Jeweled Lotus'), draw ('Mishra's Bauble', 'Implement of Ferocity', 'Vessel of Nascency') and removal ('Executioner's Capsule', 'Seal of Doom', 'Seal of Primordium' 'Pernicious Deed'). Cost effective creatures also add recursion: 'Siren Stormtamer' protects the graveyard from hate while 'Sakura-Tribe Elder' brings land advantage. Mutation is cast in a supporting role, adding flying, trample, counters, tokens and/or removal, plus a generous base boost to +1/+1 encrusted creatures.

Key pieces include 'Gravebreaker Lamia' who tutors to your graveyard coming into play and reduces casting costs from the graveyard by 1. 'Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest' gives +1/+1 to all your creatures each time anyone sacrifices anything which synergizes perfectly with re-using your utility permanents and a host of fetch lands ('Verdant Catacombs', 'Misty Rainforest', 'Polluted Delta', 'Terramorphic Expanse', Fabled Passage'). Further, with 'Titania, Protector of Argoth' or 'Avenger of Zendikar' on board, each drop, sac & drop fetch land cycle also triggers additional tokens and counters. Adding 'Exploration' to double land drops and 'Doubling Season' to double token and counter totals further accelerates the process. With 'Champion of Lambholt' on-board gaining +1/+1 counters, your creatures quickly become unblockable.

Other +1/+1 counter and token synergies to watch out for include 'Master Biomancer' + mutation as it grants counters to each creature entering under your control equal to it's power. 'Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord' allows you to sacrifice creatures as a reusable artillery of your pumped creatures. 'Iridescent Hornbeetle' is a ticking timebomb, releasing insect tokens for each counter created while 'The Ozolith' preserves counters, amassing them to be re-used again.

Instants, sorceries and planeswalkers are scant, but key. 'Crop Rotation' looks out of place but as an instant pulling any land, can provide some interesting utility. Use it early to fix mana, to find and loop 'Strip Mine', or save it to pull a surprise 'Glacial Chasm', absorbing attacks for free, keeping your counter-attack at full-strength. 'Inspiring Call' is both an offensive and defensive bomb in this deck. 'Agadeem's Awakening' can drop as land at any time, or use it to unleash a final wave from your readily filled graveyard. 'Nissa of Shadowed Boughs' plusses to untap land and her easily reached -5 lets you choose a creature from your graveyard or hand to enter play with 2 +1/+1 counters.

Point of wisdom: Ensure your first recursion with Muldrotha is 'Jeweled Lotus' if it's in the yard so you can use it to cast Muldrotha back again later.
