To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Pauper EDH is an alternative format that uses any uncommon creature as the commander, and the 99 are commons. Technically this is EDH legal too!
This deck has Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist and Armix, Filigree Thrasher as the commanders. Both have great synergy with equipment which is why we run a ton of it. I started making the deck with "Lizard Omnivore" as the partner to Ardenn in order to one-shot opponents but realistically Armix & Cranial Plating are too good to pass up.
An upside to Ardenn is we can ignore high equipment costs, for example on the living weapon Sickleslicer and Skinwing that have their own upside.
With Ardenn and equipment on the board any minion we play can become a huge threat, which is why it's important to save him until you need him & to keep him safe, Whispersilk Cloak is our best option but Blessing of Leeches, Benevolent Blessing and Cho-Manno's Blessing are good too.
Armix is removal on a stick with all the equipment we're running, discarding a card to kill anything on the board is pretty good. It's "combat-phase speed" though so some instant removal is still important, so we have Crib Swap and Unmake as well.
Our powerhouse equipment are Cranial Plating and Golem-Skin Gauntlets but Myr Adapter, Skyhunter Skirmisher, Fencing Ace and Militant Inquisitor scale well with equipment as well.
To keep the board filled with equipment we have a lot of card advantage and some artifact recursion to return important pieces.
Hopeful Eidolon can either be played as a 1/1 with lifelink and then geared up by Ardenn or bestowed on a creature that's already kitted out.
I considered running auras you can "flicker" with Ardenn while exiling a creature (Weight of Conscience, Dreadful Apathy) but I don't think you can put the exile on the stack before ardenn's ability? I also considered some discard payoffs for Armix but I decided against it, worth considering though.
Weaknesses of the deck would be the voltron nature of the game plan since we don't run hexproof creatures. As usual the deck is low on reach so flying decks can be an issue. Another issue would be artifact removal, thankfully Vandalblast isn't legal in the format, but Gorilla Shaman can be a bit of a nightmare.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions, I'd love to hear 'em!
