To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Pauper EDH is an alternative format that uses any uncommon creature as the commander and the 99 are commons. Technically this deck is EDH legal too!
This deck is crewed by [[Dargo, the Shipwrecker]] and [[Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh]] (say that ten times fast, if you can).
Dargo's unique ability to sacrifice creatures and artifacts to reduce his cost enables playing a really early Drago and with a guaranteed 0 cost creature in the command zone, turn 1 Dargo's are fairly consistent.
Follow that up with a [[Buccaneer's Bravado]] turn 2 and you have a dead opponent thanks to PDH's commander damage of 16.
Hell, you can even do it turn 1 with a land + 0 cost creature or artifact + Rograkh + [[Lotus Petal]] + [[Rite of Flame]] / [[Simian Spirit Guide]] + [[Assault Strobe]] + [[Cartouche of Zeal]] / [[Samut's Sprint]] / [[Fervent Strike]] / [[Maximize Velocity]] / [[Hammerhand]] / [[Reckless Charge]] when the stars align.
The deck is obviously very aggressive and has a hard time with early removal (our only protection being [[Goblin Chirurgeon]] and [[Herbal Poultice]] which are also potential sacrifices for Dargo), so target selection is key, try to remove opponents playing black/blue before green/red, white's aura-based removal is also worth watching out for.
[[Buccaneer's Bravado]] / [[Uncaged Fury]] are our ideal buff spells, but getting +9 is fairly easy, most of our buffs are +3 or +4 at 1-2 mana and a lot of them are auras that stick around so cast those before temporary buffs.
At the moment there's a ton of 0 cost creatures / artifacts to have as high as possible chance for a turn 1 Dargo but the deck is far from optimized, it's very possible that it's better to run a lot of 2 mana cantrip artifacts or mana rocks for a more sturdy but less explosive deck. If you try the deck and tinker with it, I'd love to hear from you!
Cards like [[Pyroblast]] and [[Red Elemental Blast]] are up for consideration, but since they're potentially completely dead draws I suggest attacking opponents running blue first instead. But keep them in mind if you find yourself getting counterspelled or targeted by a lot of bounce spells.
Other notable cards are [[Darksteel Citadel]] and [[Great Furnace]] that can be sacrificed to Dargo after tapping for mana, [[Inner-Flame Acolyte]] which can evoke for haste and +2, [[Rubblebelt Maaka]] which can discard for +3+3 and is uncounterable, [[Torch Courier]] that can either be sacrificed to Dargo or provide Dargo with haste and [[Kuldotha Rebirth]] that can pay for a ton of Dargo's casting cost.
The 26 snow lands are only for [[Arcum's Astrolabe]], feel free to exclude them if you don't own any snow lands.
The deck originally ran [[Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar]] instead of Rograkh as I incorrectly believed it made commander combat damage apply to all opponents, which it does not. Many thanks to Alkadron for pointing that out, and for their helpful advice & inspirational Viashino Slaughtermaster deck.
Thanks for checking out the deck and reading the primer. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know!
