Pauper EDH is an alternative format that uses any uncommon creature as the commander, and the 99 are commons.

This mono-red deck has Brood Keeper as the commander, who has a very unique ability that spawns 2/2 dragons with firebreathing when you attach Brood Keeper with an aura.

Naturally the deck runs tons of auras to take advantage of this and a lot of ramp to make use of the firebreathing units.

Some notable auras are Crown of Flames and Ghitu Firebreathing, which can be returned to our hand so we can replay it on Brood Keeper for more dragons. Also worth mentioning is Dizzying Gaze which ensure our air superiority and Mark of Fury that returns to our hand at the end of the turn, unfortunately there's no aura tutoring for red in PDH but hopefully you'll draw one or two of them.

We also run a lot of utility auras like Flamespeaker's Will and Latulla's Orders that remove artifacts and pinging auras like Fire Whip, Power of Fire, Arcane Teachings and Inferno Fist. The auras that tap our creature are particularly useful to stop auras like Furor of the Bitten and Undying Rage from forcing us to attack.

There's also Bloodfire Infusion as a potential board wipe if we fall behind, either on a dragon that's used firebreathing a few times or just attached to the commander as a visible nuke button.

Sadly there's not a lot of protection available to mono-red, Whispersilk Cloak would stop us from attaching auras to our commander so it's not great. It would be decent once our commander's stacked up a few auras but I've decided not to run it. We do have THE BRUTE, if you have a lot of auras or some instant spells available it's ok to hold back 3 mana for your opponents turns, but otherwise I'd just spend it on more auras / firebreathing.
Since we can't protect our commander it's very likely to eventually cost too much to cast. The dragons are fine substitutes to cast auras on but Champion of the Flame is an excellent final burst of damage with some auras on it.

For ramp we want sources that can provide red mana for our firebreathing, the exception is Mind Stone, Pristine Talisman & Magnifying Glass. Mana Geyser can set you up for a huge turn but it depends on how tapped out your opponents are.

For removal we have Circle of Flame (good vs wide token strategies & with our pinging spells), Fiery Cannonade recently got downshifted and is crazy good, Shredded Sails helps us keep the skies clear or can remove troublesome artifacts or even cycle if neither is relevant, Swirling Sandstorm is one of the better wipes but is conditional. Fireball & Rolling Thunder are flexible, scales with our ramp & can also work as burn. For graveyard hate we have Relic of Progenitus (run Tormod's Crypt if you need to) and Vessel of Endless Rest (primarily red mana ramp though).

I've decided not to run any discard payoffs so the only looting card we run are Cathartic Reunion (efficient), Thrill of Possibility (instant) and Merchant of the Vale // Haggle (reusable and has a body). Beyond that we have two sources of Monarch; Crimson Fleet Commodore & Staunch Throneguard (our deck should be good at taking back monarch) and we have Armillary Sphere & Spare Supplies for some reliable card advantage. Burning Prophet gives us a lot of card selection since we cast a ton of auras.
The deck doesn't need a lot of draw as we have tons of mana-sinks, so having nothing to cast isn't a big deal.

Weaknesses of the deck are first of all the overreliance on our commander, if she gets removed before we can get some auras on her we're in trouble and since we have almost no protection we have to play her a bit cautiously. We have almost no interaction for combo decks, if you're facing a lot of those you should include Pyroblast / Red Elemental Blast.

Wow I wrote kind of a wall there, sorry about that and thanks for reading! Let me know if you have any thoughts or questions.
