Protection of Kalamax, the Stormsire

The deck generates value with its commander, so its crutially important to protect him and keep him on the battlefield. Only play Kalamx when you got some protection - he makes you to arch enemy.
You use your conter spells to protect Kalamax. Only counter spells if they really disrupt your play (Stacks for example)

0 Mana:

• Deflecting Swat
• Lightning Greaves
• Misdirection
• Force of Will
• Pact of Negation
• Fierce guardianship

1 Mana

• Swiftfoot Boots
• Bolt Bend
• Flusterstorm
• An Offer You Can't Refuse
• Avoid Fate (nice if you have only green mana - and its a surprise)
• Red Elemental Blast
• Stubborn Denial

Grave resecuration

Grave resecuration is another way to generate more value with your commander and a copied draw, removal or counter spell
I'm playing Eternal Witness over e.g. Regrowth for the sake of Chord of Calling value setup
Noxious Revival and Reap are the best in my eyes, you should look out for instants, to copy them.

Tutor

Chord of Calling (Either you sear
Gamble should target permanents, since they are not possible to find with the instant tutors.
Merchant Scroll and Spellseeker mostly goes for a Reverberate or Brain Freeze to get the combo, but finds you any instant of course.
Trinket Mage (enables Underworld Breach + Brain Freeze + Lotus Petal combo) alternatively you search for Springleaf Drum or Sol Ring

You can tutor for 2 cards with Long-Term Plans and Mystical Tutor:
Long-Term Plans + tapped Kalamax, the Stormsire + Draw spell which diggs at least 3 deep: Brainstorm, Impulse, Joint Exploration or Dig Through Time

• Cast Long-Term Plans + tapped Kalamax, the Stormsire.
• Trigger Kalamax, copying the spell
• With the trigger on the stack, cast your draw spell: let the stack resolve
• Tutor the first card with the copy, draw the tutored card with the draw spell
• Tutor the second card with the original tutor

Mystical Tutor + tapped Kalamax, the Stormsire + Draw spell (Check Long-Term plans stack)

Value:

If you have draw spells like Brainstorm you can shuffle away cards by fetching for lands:

• Brainstorm or Impulse + tapped Kalamax, the Stormsire
• Cast Brainstorm, trigger tapped Kalamax, the Stormsire.
• With the trigger on the stack, fetch with your Fetchlands: let the stack resolve
• Let the copy resolve: put 2 cards back, fetch land, shuffle
• Let Brainstorm resolve.

Combo Win:

Kill

Underworld Breach + Brain Freeze + Lotus Petal

• 1R for Underworld Breach (Storm counter: S1)
• Play Lotus Petal (S2); sac for blue
• Pay UU, play Brain Freeze (S3), mill yourself for 9
• Exile 9 cards, cast Lotus Petal 2 times, generating 2 blue (S5)
• Exile 3 cards, cast Brain Freeze (S6), mill yourself for 18, than repeat, eventually targeting your opponents.

Kill

Kalamax, the Stormsire + copy spell + Ral, Storm Conduit + instant or socery your opponent plays, or socery you play during your turn

• Kalamax, the Stormsire (has to be tapped) and Ral, Storm Conduit are on the battlefield
• Play socery, keep priority and cast Expansion // Explosion or Reverberate targeting your socery
• Kalamax triggers, copying the copy spell. The copy targets the original copy spell.
• With the copy you copy the copy spell'
  --> Each time you copy the spell Ral, Storm Conduit static ability triggers, and you ping your opponent for 1 (kill)

infinite Mana and Kill

Kalamax, the Stormsire + copy spell + Storm-Kiln Artist + Comet Storm

• Kalamax, the Stormsire (has to be tapped) and Ral, Storm Conduit are on the battlefield
• Play socery, keep priority and cast Expansion // Explosion or Reverberate targeting your socery
• Kalamax triggers, copying the copy spell. The copy targets the original copy spell.
• With the copy you copy the copy spell
  --> Each time you copy the spell Storm-Kiln Artist static ability triggers creating a treasure Token (infinite mana)
  --> Cast Comet Storm (kill)
