This is an EDH/ Commander version of the multiplayer, cooperative Horde format (it is a work in progress)
Zombie Commander Horde Rules:
Before the game begins, all 80 non-token cards (The Horde) are shuffled and divided in half (two, 40-card stacks). The Horde’s commander does not count towards its library’s 40 non-token card limit and is not shuffled into either stack. Both stacks are then chosen at random to be phase 1 and phase 2’s libraries and are to be combined with the same 60 tokens, making up two, 100-card libraries. Phase 1’s library begins the game, and if it is successfully cleared it is followed by phase 2’s library.
The Horde’s commander begins the game on the battlefield.
The Horde’s commander does not attack or block.
If the Horde’s commander is removed, it goes into its library tenth from the top. If it would be milled, it enters the battlefield instead, meaning it always returns unless it is the last remaining card in The Horde’s library. (Reference Rule 18)
The Horde is unaffected by its own cards that read “each player”, except for recursion spells. (Ex. Twilight’s Call affects The Horde and all Survivors)
Ignore text on The Horde’s cards that read “target.”
The Horde’s cards that read “each opponent” affect each player separately. (Ex. “each opponent loses 2 life” is to be treated as 2 life per Survivor reduced from The Survivors’ life total)
The Horde’s cards that read “to your hand” are to be treated as “to the battlefield.”
Whenever The Horde is asked to “choose a creature type”, it always chooses zombies.
The Horde’s planeswalkers can only active their first loyalty ability and they activate it each turn if able.
The Horde’s tutors put a randomly selected card from its library onto the battlefield, then shuffle The Horde’s library afterwards.
The Horde’s X/X creature tokens have a power and toughness each equal to the number of zombies on the battlefield.
The Survivors win only if The Horde has no cards in its library and no creatures on the battlefield except for its commander. If you’ve eliminated the commander’s Horde, you win the game. Other win-conditions are banned.
Reference the ban list below. Note that some cards also do not work in this format. (Ex. Propaganda doesn’t work because The Horde cannot pay mana.)
Banned creature cards lose all abilities. Other banned cards, win-condition cards or cards that do not work in this format may be included in your deck but are to be treated as basic lands that can only produce generic mana.
All other typical Horde rules apply.
All other typical EDH/ Commander rules apply, except for commander damage.
