Budget Modern Death & Taxes & Tricks (Modern)

Still working on this deck. Looking to add in cards that can deal with artifacts and enchantments and also work in Stony Silence, while also smoothing out the deck as best I can. And while not as budget as I would like it to be, less than $500 is still a great price. Playtesting with this deck is going to be starting soon.

The main idea is to have a Death & Taxes shell with tricks that no one's expecting like Surgical Extraction, Mindbreak Trap, Spellskite, and Ravenous Trap. The filterlands are there to provide the needed colorless mana and color-fixing if you can't spare the 2 life for the Phyrexian mana or if the trap cards alternate free cost haven't been met.

This is a more aggressive style D&T with the cards like Honor of the Pure, Elesh Norn, and Hero of Bladehold. You'll be swinging more than other D&T decks but don't get too aggressive, bide your time and wait for the perfect opportunity. A great combo the deck has to offer is Flickerwisp and the Eldrazi Displacer. The Displacer's ability allows you to use the Flickerwisp multiple times in a turn giving you a great edge over your opponent. If you're able to work in a Training Ground, or two, or three, and able to get one out reliably, then the combo can board wipe for a big swing or even lock out your opponent!
