To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Mono Black Devo that I killed with in Standard. Looking to update it to a Modern format, could use some ideas. My strategy with this deck is that I rely on sacking creatures, using Ayara, Erebos, and the Oven to generate lifegain, or damage to my opponent, and generate card draw. Nightmare Shepherd lets me reuse cards that die from blocking or sacking my merchant just to drop him again as a token. This deck is not made for attacking, and shouldn't need to block much with the amount of lifegain it has. Removal using Drag, Remorse, and Swift End. Win Con is Citadel if you have 40+ life, you can just bomb the board with cards off your deck, otherwise I just use Gray Merchant and Cat/Oven to whittle them down. Added Deathless Knight just for the Devo and he fits in with all the life you can gain. Starting hands rarely disappoint, usually end up with 3-4 lands, and about half my cards are 3 mana or less.
EDIT 9/15/21
-Removed 2 Witch’s Oven, 1 Deathless Knight, 4 Yarok’s Fenlurker
Didn’t think I needed 9 Sack outlets. Deathless Knight was kind of just thrown in to hit 60 cards.
Relentless Dead is just better than Yarok’s Fenlurker
-Added 2 Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, 1 Sanguine Bond, 4 Relentless Dead
Double life drain from Bond, and Vito. Dropping a Gary, Cat, Ayara, will now be 2 times as good.
EDIT 9/21/21
Removed 2 Witch's Oven, 1 Sanguine Bond, 1 Ayara, First of Locthwain, 2 Nightmare Shepherd, 5 Food Tokens
Added 2 Fatal Push, 2 Knight of the Ebon Legion, 2 Phyrexian Obliterator
Ayara and Erebos are fine with only 4 sack outlets. Fatal Push adds to my removal for cheap, Knight of the ebon helps me get more one drops out there and he will just grow every turn, plus he's easy to pump. Sanguine Bond just didn't work out with the mana curve, as its more of a commander card IMO. Phyrexian is huge for potential removal, and just a good blocker or attacker.
