Yawgmoth -All Hail Phyrexia-

Greetings again, below you will find the original posted intro here, that has since been outdated by a lot. I played Yagmoth (here for renamed to Yawgamuffin) a few times and the deck has been through a few iterations. I finally settled in on what I wanted to do and I will go into further details below. This is not supposed to be a friendly deck, this is a competitive deck meant to win, similarly to my Kefent deck. If you are looking for something that is fun and not meant to make you public enemy number one... well you should go to my Hydras deck.

After I have taken the time to play this deck about 20 times over the past week It I have come to find the build I prefer and I will explain below. Needless to say, this deck has lost only one of the 20 games and that was due to poor playing on my part and being in a 6 player game consisting of 2.5 control decks. I scooped after the Ugin -6 exile bomb that the player had no win condition, making the game last a whole 1.5 hours and myself and the Urza player scooped out of boredom. Moving on below the Theme and then Combos and Synergies, enjoy.

Theme

This was originally supposed to be a superfriends deck which quickly became a Wombo-Combo deck.

The original combo is based on the Bolas's Citadel + Aetherflux Reservoir + Sensei's Divining Top. Yawgmoth, Thran Physician becomes your top in this deck.

Combos and High Synergy:

Bolas's Citadel + Aetherflux Reservoir + Yawgmoth, Thran Physician = Draw and / or cast your whole Library.

  • How does this work: When you cast a spell with Citadel you pay life, when you cast a spell Aetherflux gains you life (If you cast both the Citadel and Aetherflux this turn you gain 3 Life to start with on your first Citadel Cast). This repeats until you dead draw, then you trigger Yawgmoth to remove the dead draw. Once you have enough life, you Laser Beam everyone.

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician + Undying Creatures (Butcher Ghoul, Geralf's Messenger, Sightless Ghoul) = Draw as much as your Life permits.

  • How does this work: You need Two undying creatures or you need an Undying Creature and a token maker that synergies with this (Pawn of Ulamog | Nest of Scarabs | Blight Mound | Desecrated Tomb | Sifter of Skulls) or opponents creatures. With this you will be able to draw at the very least, a lot of cards to 39 cards from your deck depending on your set up on board. If you have life Gain or a way to kill your opponents with Death triggers then this will win you the game with that alone.

Any creature that has Death Life Gain = Drawing your whole deck

Ulamog, The Infinite Gyre + Your Graveyard = Recycle loop.

  • How does this work: Explained in more detail below, you can basically use the Eldrazi Titan to recycle your Graveyard into your Library.

Extraplanar Lens + Snow-Covered Swamp = Mana for me and no one else.

  • How does this work: Well this is a pretty easy one. You cast the Lens and you get mana for having Snow-Covered Swamps while regular swamps get nothing in return. Lucky be the players that are using the Snow Basics this day.

Golden Pig

Skirge Familiar = You can discard your hand for Mana.

  • How does this work: This card really just makes this deck explode. When you utilize the above formats to draw say, 30 cards. You will more likely then not find something good to cast that can help further the progenation of your victory. This card will nearly guarantee you the ability to cast those. This deck carries with it one single Eldrazi Titan (formerly two) Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre. They key to this is with the ability to draw your whole library without drawback from life loss, you need a way to recycle. Ulamog give you that with the line, "When Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles their graveyard into their library." This allows you to continually draw your deck and discard your hand for mana and loop this for whatever you might plan. This is essentially "Infinite Mana."

Infinite Mana: When you have the above synergies the world is your oyster.

You have a few answers at this point.

  1. Torment of Hailfire: 1 Million Mana in this usually ends things.

  2. Bitter Ordeal: If they cannot Die, you can certainly exile their Libraries. To explain this further, this has Gravestorm (The ability not the card) which is like Storm but for Permanents that have been put into a Graveyard this turn. So if you have Undying Draw with the Recycle Loop, you have infinite triggers of this instance happening. Meaning you can exile everyone's Library.

  3. Ichor Rats + Proliferate: If they cannot die to Damage they sure can die to Poison Counters

Control and Containment

Contamination: This is just bitter and brutal card to combat the other colors. This is only dead when you have another Mono Black player, and even then it will slow them down if they are making "extra" mana.

Ugin, the Ineffable, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, Feed the Swarm, and Scour From Existence: All these are meant to deal with the issues of Enchantments, Artifacts (Only Scour), and problem cards (Iona, Shield of Emeria)[Now Banned].

I really hope this all helps to sort of explain the idea and what is happening with this deck. Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments, I will try to address them. I feel like the rest of the choices were self explanatory but I am willing to elaborate on specific choices if someone is curious. Just be sure to have fun and enjoy playing.
