Dr. Moriarty returns from the past. Landing back in England, she merges with her previous self, resulting in only a single Dr. Moriarty. Thinking that she's just about to succeed in her plan to remove planeswalker taint and cleanse the multiverse, Dr. Kylie Moriarty is suddenly attacked by the planeswalkers. They destroy what they think is her lab, most of her clones, and could have destroyed her. But Pharika intervenes this time, stopping the violent attack with illusions of lethal snakes. She expressly forbids Kylie from joining in the attack, so Kylie keeps calm and stays out of the battle. The nearest she does to actually acting is that, when Pharika creates a clone of Reaper King, Kylie prepares an Artificial Evolution and uses it on him. This makes him cat-reactive instead of scarecrow-reactive.
The battle is ended. Still, the lab is nearly destroyed, leaving Dr. Moriarty horrified. She is sure that she will be unable to stop the planeswalkers at all. Not provoked into rage this time, however, Kylie turns to the tarot. She learns that the planeswalkers were sent by someone who pretends to be a friend, but is ultimately a threat to England. Yet, the cards are clear the enemy is no one close to her, and no one she has made a clone of.
It is in this emotionally vulnerable state that Tiamat herself appears to Dr. Moriarty and offers to restore her work, if she will give her an army of dragons so Tiamat can overthrow her own enemy - the alleged Ur-Dragon. After what she went through with The Crafty Spirits and The Country Where they Turn Back Time, and the warning from the tarot, Kylie declines. While she will give Tiamat a little help to be kind, accepting Tiamat's help will be distinctly foolish. Chiefly, she also realizes Tiamat is the one who sent the planeswalkers in the first place. Tiamat is enraged, and launches an attack on Kylie's island. The cats are ready, empowered by the Artificial Evolution of the Reaper King, so that even the toughest of Tiamat's dragons are destroyed. They fight to a draw. Pharika convinces Tiamat that she should invade elsewhere. It works, and Tiamat leaves.
In the aftermath, Dr. Moriarty discovers that the planeswalkers have struck, being a full threat on their own. She finds that the only thing she can do is call her brother, Kelly, for emotional support and a good cry. Then in the morning, rebuild the lab. The planeswalkers must be stopped.
