Zeige Revision 125. There is a more recent version of this deck.
Dr. Kylie Moriarty and her deity, Pharika, did not quite succeed at defeating the Phyrenxians using a modified form of infect against the Phyrexians. But they now fully understand the infection and how to deal with it. Essence of clones of Melira is helpful, but it's not a cure. Pharika's old leeches, modified and stripped of darkness, prove an effective treatment.
Outside of players, infect is only -1/-1 counters for blocking creatures. And the secret therapeutic weapon is Quillspike, which can convert infection (-1/-1 counters) into power for itself. If any card should be brought into standard right now, it should be Quillspike.
This deck also draws in a lesser form on the old idea of lifegain and resurrection.
With white, green, and black unable to come to peace between each other, blue was added to impose discipline. It did, in fact, impose discipline by showing the first three colors what they actually wanted, and then left. Kylie and Pharika create an empowered moon replica that will give them the power to remove all infect from all over Theros, represented by Approach of the Second Sun. The Helix Pinnacle still awaits. If properly charged, it will provide enough power to revoke all infection everywhere, using microbe forms of Quillspike as an antivirus.
The unwilling Dragonlord Dromoka and Kozilek are no longer unwilling to be part of things, finding they did not like being left out as blue moved in. With their return comes return of the core elements of lifegain, resurrection, cloning and populate, and most importantly, treating infect and poison counters, remain.
Eldrazi Displacer and Loaming Shaman survived the changes, as did the essential Quillspike and its partner, Hag Hedge-Mage.
Nightmare Shepherd, Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage, Selesnya Eulogist, Trostani, and newcomer Song of the Worldsoul stand as the populate team for Nightmare Shepherd. Walking Atlas is easily copied and populated, now backed by a Terrain Generator.
Beledros Witherbloom, Angelic Accord, and Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage can provide tokens, but Jolrael and Cubwarden dominate. Nethroi is back in command, but knows that he must keep order or Reaper King and the blue will return.
Shalai is still here, with Slippery Bogbonder still at her side. The Helm of the Host is also still here and Eldrazi Displacer will still happily step in to bounce the Bogbonder to shield Shalai upon his return.
Beledros Witherbloom's pest tokens appearing on each turn bolster the power of Death's Presence. And Beledros is more than happy to untap for Kylie. This is especially useful if the Helix Pinnacle is around. Winning with Helix Pinnacle is no longer so extraordinary if you've got 30 or more lands, and Beledros' ability to untap once on every turn makes victory easy.
I had to give up blue and the proliferate cards, but now that I fully understand what I want this deck to do, it's ready to do that.
Since this deck runs so much resurrection and populate, why not turn things to my advantage? Geier Reach Sanitarium increases my draw and aids my ability to either get to the Sun Titan or throw away lands. Why? Because a cloned Sun Titan can return discarded lands to the battlefield; constantly. Meaning that if I use my Mirrorpool, I get a land back onto the battlefield even if I've played a land this turn. And if I populate that cloned Sun Titan, each new populated S. Titan only brings back more land, or more permanents of 3 cost or less. Normally, this would be useless. But with Beledros' help, Geier Reach Sanitarium's draw and discard can tear through my deck, and my opponents', in no time.
Speaking of tearing through an enemy's deck in no time, it turns out I had not realized Pestilence Demon survived the revision, so with the intervention of Firja for balance, I was able to save Urban Daggertooth and Rite of Passage. Oh, that means that if I use the Pestilence Demon slowly, one point at a time instead of all at once, all creatures I control get +1/+1 counters. It also means Urban Daggertooth proliferates, and not just my creatures or any poison counters adversaries should happen to have. I can also proliferate my Helix Pinnacle. It's a delightful little conspiracy between the Daggertooth and the Pestilence Demon, who find common cause with the Rite of Passage. My creatures (and my Pinnacle) slowly gain power. Yours slowly . . . . disappear. Cheers.
Vilis, Broker of Blood is now flanked in his drawing power by Erebos, God of the Dead, and by Baleful Force.
