Controlled Amnesia.

UB Control in Modern isn't the strongest deck, but I wanted to find a way to play Sadistic Sacrament.
Modern is way too crazy for this deck to be competitive I guess, but it's a lot of fun to take apart someone's deck by Inquisition of Kozilek, Thoughtsize and Sadistic Sacrament. And fun is good! :)

I won 2-1 against a pretty fast Affinity deck with this by Pithing Needle (SB) against Cranial Plating and then using Sadistic Sacrament (unkicked), Darkness, Damnation, counter spells and removal. My life went down to 5 and 7 but I was able to stabilize.
One kicked Sadistic Sacrament took out all but few creatures that were left, which made it near impossible for him to win.

Generally, I try to play an unkicked Sadistic Sacrament early to figure out the opponent's deck. Remove three crucial cards or necessary lands(!) and things can get pretty awkward. Snapcaster Mage it again and you have a fighting chance of winning (imagine six core cards exiled from your library by turn 5).
Thoughtsize, Inquisiton of Kozilek and Surgical Extraction help gain control and remove crucial cards from the game.

Soul Manipulation is a sweet card since it's both a creature counter spell and Disentomb for your Snapcaster Mage. More flashback!

Darkness is just as good as fog, Damnation nearly as good as Wrath.

Counter spells, well, Modern does have some pretty interesting ones, but they all have drawbacks.

Mystical Teachings helps getting vital cards like a counter spell, Darkness or a Snapcaster Mage. I'm not so sure about Serum Vision as a draw spell, but the Scry 2 can be very helpful. Dark Confidant is not in this deck because it puts you on a clock, and staying alive is hard enough as it is. I might consider it at some point in time (and it's also very pricey).

Creeping Tar Pit (survives Damnation) and Snapcaster Mage can help beating down your opponent if necessary.

Tectonic Edge is there to deal with problematic lands your oppponent has and further help screwing up their mana base.

Cheers!
