Atraxa EDH - Yes, I play her, too (EDH / Commander)

This my take on Atraxa.

Since there are so many ways to make her ridiculously powerful (and make everyone not want to play with you anymore), I imposed some deckbuilding restrictions on myself:

  • as few cards as possible, apart from the ones in the original Atraxa deck, that are worth more than 5 EUR
  • three Fetchlands, three Shocklands, no Duals or overpowered mana rocks
  • 2 planeswalkers
  • if at all possible, only Modern-legal cards (some obvious examptions in Sol Ring etc.)
  • no Infect of any kind

The one real weakness a "normal" creature-based Atraxa deck has is that it is very, very soft to (mass) removal. In order to get the synergies going and create some lethal attacks, you need to have some creatures on the board, and without hast enablers, you can build up a perfect little army, only to never actually get to ATTACK with it. For this flaw, I put in some of cards that can void removal.

The curve is very low, as I found out that the synergies need to start early to matter. Lateron, it cannot compete with combo- or spell-based wins.

With Overrun and Predatory Focus, I also have two cards that can convert a good board state into a one-turn win.
