Pretty straight forward...take key elements from a solid lifegain deck and combine it with good direct damage, aggro red cards. Balefire Liege then buffs just about anything you can play while Guttersnipe makes it even worse for your opponent.
Example: Balefire Liege and Guttersnipe out. In your hand you have an Honor's Reward and a Lightning Bolt. Play Honor's Reward which triggers Balefire's "gain 3 life" and Guttersnipe's "2 damage to each opponent". Then you gain the 4 life from Honor's Reward and bolster accordingly. Then you play Lightning Bolt which triggers Balefire's "3 damage to target player" AND Guttersnipe's "2 damage to each opponent". Then you deal the original 3 damage to target player from Lightning Bolt.
In one move, at a cost of 4 mana, you have gained 7 life (imagine if one of your lifegain counter cards is in play...which is almost guaranteed) then you deal 10 direct damage to target player with another 4 damage going to any other opponents as well...all before you even attack.
