Wort the Raidmother is an incredibly powerful, albeit expensive to cast, combo enabler. When I first considered her I was looking for an commander that did something out of the ordinary and did it well. I found Wort.
Early Game:
Your early game will consist of ramping up to casting Wort, you have a plethora of ramp spells at your disposal and should be able to get her out at around turn four every game. There are also many cheaper creatures, artifacts and enchantments available to start casting in order to bolster your game plan.
Mid Game: By the seventh turn or so the game could either be in a drastically different situation due to player interaction, or you could have already won. There are no infinite combos so to speak within Wort, but instead Wort functions as a massive value engine, allowing you to obtain massive amounts of permanent removal, tokens and lands.
Creature Card Choices:
Essence Warden: Life in necessary in order to survive your own burn wipes, though it's not likely that others will have more health than you, Essence Warden will ensure that you are able to come out on top.
Magus of the Library: An underrated Mana Dork and card draw engine, as long as your hand stays full this guy will come in handy, otherwise provides useful ramp.
Young Pyromancer/Guttersnipe: Turns the massive amount of instants and sorceries you're using into value
Avenger of Zendikar: Great late game bombs/finishers that will victory in the most dire of circumstances
Token Creation Choices:
All of the token creation choices are fairly simple, cheap and elegant ways to amass a grouping of expendable creatures that you can use to copy spells, none of them really need to be explained.
The rest of the card choices are also fairly simple and straightforward. Keep in mind this deck is meant to be a budget deck, and eventually a non-budget version for players who are willing to spend the extra money in order to gain a small competitive edge will be put up.
Thanks for reading, we really hope you enjoy the deck!
