This is my third Maralen of the Mornsong deck, and the second one which revolves around a hard draw-lock. I wanted to try to find a faster way to do it. This is probably as FAST as it gets. Not as GOOD as it gets. That has to be legacy where you can make the deck B/R and include Stranglehold, which would be the ultimate.
Your whole goal is to turn-2 drop Leonin, and turn 3 drop Maralen. At that point, you should be able to stop your opponent from doing anything because they'll have to tap out to draw their answer. Your turn 3 play is to dig for Dark Deal and flush away everything your opponent is holding. From there you are always ahead of your opponent. I turn 4 into Liliana and just run discard every time. Your opponent will never be able to cast the card they fish for because of Leonin ARbiter. They have to fish for a land to be able to do that, and that's when you start digging for Rain of Tears or Ghost Quarter.
Phyrexian Unlife is your game winner. Ephara's Radiance is the backup plan.
The nice thing about the deck, post-sideboard, is you can always fish for your answer.
The deck is very close to a death and taxes build, so some of the sideboard basically turns it into that.
the theory is, if you can get Leonin and Maralen out turn 3, you are incapable of dying. especially if you are on the draw. A hard draw lock on turn 3 means your opponents can't find any answer to the combo unless they had it in their hand turn 1. Which they probably will post-sideboard.
As a side note, if you are a legacy player, you can turn this into a B/R deck and, instead of Arbiter, use Stranglehold. The combo is even stronger, but not quite as fast.
