It's basically a prison deck. WIns are beats with Celestial Colonnade, counters with Azor's Elocutors, or Jace.

The idea behind the deck is you have three completely different win conditions. WinCon A is beatdown with Colonnade. B is Jace just milling you. C is Azor's Elecutors. These are three separate, and completely different, conditions. Hexproof? elecutors or beat down. Bridge? Elecutors or Jace. Pithing on jace and colonnade? Elecutors.

Monastery Siege provides a kind of hexproof to you and all of your permanents by taxing your opponent two additional mana if they want to hit you, or take out anything you have. That's why it's a full 4 of. Each one adds a pretty big tax onto whatever your opponent may be doing.

Counters are also all taxes.

I think, as a lawyer, this deck perfectly-encapsulates my profession. I'm just going to talk and talk until either you give up, or you're found guilty. I'm not stopping you from fighting me. But it's going to be very, very expensive if you do.
