Ashnods altar is there to sac your creatures and trigger the effects of Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and/or Falkenrath Noble.

Ashnods altar also helps to sac the zombies you get from Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet's ability triggering and the creatures you get from Tempt with Vengeance and of course, Reassembling Skeleton which then triggers grave pact which then triggers Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet again(till their are no creatures left on their side)
Impact tremors for the overkill:)
Then you get to swing with a army of zombies:)

Dance with Devils has potential of dealing damage by entering (impact tremors) attacking, and leaving the battlefield and dealing damage and if you have any of the cards above in play it will trickle down the grave pact and Kalitas abilitys for more damage or can be used as blockers.

Nothing is wasted. When a creature dies shit goes down:)

Or if you wanna be a dick you can pair Ashnods altar with Myr Retriever and any of the creatures above for infinite damage. (but i refuse to do this)
