Ertai, the Corrupted has the potential to be the controller of the game thanks to its activated ability that can counter any spell. In charge of an esper control shell, we need to find ways to untap it and give it some cretaures or enchantments to sacrifice where needed.

Starting with the untap, we can easly use Freed from the Real and Pemmin's Aura while Thousand-Year Elixir let us use Ertai's ability in the same turn it cames in play and Thornbite Staff can untap it every time we sacrifice a creature.

About sacrifices, we can use some autorecurring cards like Bloodghast or Reassembling Skeleton or take cards back with something like Hanna, Ship's Navigator or Sun Titan. We can even start to produce our own sacrifice tokens with some good utility like Lullmage Mentor or Sacred Mesa and we definitley want to play Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Liliana, Dreadhorde General for their great potential.

That said, we could win by creating a bouch of token and controlling the game, but this list would like to do something more combo orientend. So, here is the Solemnity package:

. Solemnity is an enchantment almost useless by its own, but makes creature with Immortal or Persist just impossible to kill
. Glen Elendra Archmage is a second counter that can be even sacrified for Ertai and becomes really persistent with Solemnity (got it?)
. Puppeteer Clique is a good card on its own and can lead to sweet situations and new creature to sacrifice with Ertai (even just for one turn)
. Geralf's Messenger is the weakest of those three but can combo off with Solemnity and a Sac Out for infinite loss of life
. Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Altar can offer infinite mana with the card from above and a wincon with Geralf's Messenger
. Altar of Dementia is the last combo piece, perfect to mill every opponent with one of our immortal creature and Solemnity in play

Beside those cards, Decree of Silence also combos very well with Solemnity but it's really really slow and preatty useless, for me, on its own.

So, we just need a bunch of good draw and tutor to find our combo pieces, like Hatching Plans or Rhystic Study, and we can even try Demonic Pact.

Ertai, the Corrupted can easly keep other player in check while we work for our victory and it seems playable as a very particular control. Enjoy!

Enjoy!
