Newer version here: https://deckstats.net/decks/54826/671064-paradoxical-storm-3-12
Still not sure which ver is better. Newer one feels more explosive but probably less consistent.

This is a combo deck that tries to win using Aetherflux Reservoir. This is facilitated by eight 0-drop spells and Paradoxical Outcome. The rest of the deck is card advantage and mana acceleration.

I've been playing and refining this archetype since Aetherflux Reservoir was spoiled in Kaladesh, but I'm always looking for improvements/discussions.

==EXPLANATION OF SPELL DISTRIBUTION/MINI PRIMER==
Baral's Expertise/Paradoxical Outcome -- These spells win you the game. Baral's can be cast turn 4 with an Inspiring Statuary in play which is a blowout, considering you could also cast Aetherflux Reservoir and two Paradoxical Outcomes in the same turn with a nut hand. Remember that casting a spell for free off Baral's adds to your storm count.

Metallic Rebuke -- Can hold it up as early as turn 1 in this deck -- a great tempo play. Usually worth bringing in another game 2 as they will likely have some form of hate you want to keep off your combo.

Anticipate -- A fair turn 2 play and a good "bluff" play if you want to keep mana up for Metallic Rebuke but then end up not casting it. Also casts for U during your combo with Inspiring Statuary which makes it a mini-Glint-nest Crane while you're going off. However Reverse Engineer is usually better early game as you want to keep all the cards you see and mana isn't very tight in the early stages of the game.

Glint-Nest Crane -- Dig four deep turn 2 and gives you a decent body for chump blocking/eating removal. Can also bounce while going off and then recast for U, making it the best spell in your deck to cast post-Outcome. Only running 3 because it doesn't hit lands, and that's what you really want to hit early game.

Sram, Senior Edificer -- Casting this guy turn 2 and then drawing two to four cards using cheerios feels great. Helps the deck's consistency and if you cast a Paradoxical Outcome with him on the field you've won the game. Only running 3 because drawing a duplicate off Paradoxical Outcome feels really bad.

Reverse Engineer -- A great spell for smoothing your draw. Casting it for 2 is common but you'll almost always be able to get it off for 3, which isn't super bad in this deck given its curve (Getting to Baral's is more important than anything else you can do in this deck). Reactive decks aren't as common in Standard right now -- you're more safe during your turn without UW Flash being a deck. Therefore, Anticipate has less utility.

Aetherflux Reservoir -- Your win condition. Pretty self-explanatory. Always try to cheat it into play with Baral's Expertise. If you can land two on the field you usually win the game through attrition. Only running 3 because usually you want to be hitting other spells while going off.

Inspiring Statuary -- This card is usually the ideal turn 3 play: it turns Glint-Nest Crane and Anticipate into fantastic cantrips, turns your Bone Saws into mana rocks, and makes casting Baral's Expertise infinitely more feasible. Also, Paradoxical Outcome for U will win you the game.

Bone Saw/Cathar's Shield -- Shitty cards on their own but great for building a critical mass of permanents for a heady Paradoxical Outcome and also give you free storm count. Generate extra value off Metallic Rebuke, Inspiring Statuary, and Reverse Engineer. In a pinch you can protect your birds/Sram by equipping, or chip down an enemy planeswalker (a big weakness of this deck) with a bird holding a knife.

Renegade Map -- Renegade Map gives you color fixing, deck thinning, a shuffle effect, and Improvise targets all in one. Fantastic card with a lot of utility.

Lands -- This deck is pretty much a mono U deck with a splash for Sram. Maximal Island count for Engulf the Shore in the sideboard. No Port Towns/other taplands because sometimes you need the extra land drop during a Paradoxical Outcome turn and it coming into play tapped can cost you a lot of storm counts and maybe the game. There are 2 plains maindeck so that Fumigate and Gisela can be cast on curve. I could move one to sideboard but I think this deck needs the SB slots.

==HOW TO SIDEBOARD (Needs testing/feedback!)==
Mardu Vehicles

Out: 3 Reverse Engineer, 1 Aetherflux Reservoir, 1 Inspiring Statuary, 2 Anticipate
In: 4 Engulf the Shore; 2 Gisela, the Broken Blade, 1 Metallic Rebuke
You can't race this deck, so the solution is to play the long game. Engulf the Shore is really annoying to deal with in a deck without haste, and Gisela kills Heart of Kiran all day. She also won't be dying very much as they will likely have brought in artifact removal. Because they have artifact removal and you boarded out an Aetherflux, try to win in one turn instead of going off multiple times.

CopyCat

Out: 3 Reverse Engineer, 1 Aetherflux Reservoir, 3 Inspiring Statuary, 2 Metallic Rebuke
In: 2 Disallow, 4 Whir of Invention, 1 Anticipate, 2 Engulf the Shore
Metallic Rebuke is not as helpful against Saheeli as the deck wins in the lategame and has no issue paying 3 mana. It's nice to hold one up in the event of the counter war. The sideboard gameplan is to make the deck function at instant speed so that you can be prepared to shut down their combo then win the turn after they tap out. 2 Engulf the Shore is a nice trick as it hits infinite Felidar Guardians so you can bait them into blowing their combo.

Golgari Delirium

Out: 1 Glint-Nest Crane, 2 Anticipate
In: 2 Fumigate, 1 Metallic Rebuke
This is probably the deck's best matchup, and you don't need to change much from the maindeck. Green has strong artifact hate so another Metallic Rebuke will come in handy (Rebuke also helps prevent an early Transgress the Mind from costing you the game). This deck also has a difficult time recovering from boardwipes so Fumigate shines here.

Any Torrential Gearhulk Deck

Out: 1 Aetherflux Reservoir, 3 Inspiring Statuary, 2 Reverse Engineer, 3 Metallic Rebuke
In: 2 Disallow, 4 Whir of Invention, 1 Anticipate; 2 Gisela, the Broken Blade
Sideboard plan is similar to Saheeli but you want to bring in Gisela to clock them. Metallic Rebuke is less useful as you aren't trying to stop a combo. Disallow is the only thing that saves you from a Torrential Gearhulk so make sure you save it for that. This is a tough matchup.

Aetherworks Marvel

Out: 3 Metallic Rebuke
In: 2 Disallow, 1 Anticipate
This is a race. Disallow helps them from landing an Ulamog which will blow up your combo pieces. This deck is built in so many different ways that the sideboard plan will vary from game to game.
