Meren Stax (EDH / Commander)

This deck is meant to be be a more mid-ranged grindy kinda deck.

The main game plan is play early mana acceleration like the cheap mana dorks Birds of Paradice, Boreal Druid, Elves of Deep Shadow, & Joraga Treespeaker or the basic artifact artifact ramp package of Mana Crypt, Chrome Mox, and Sol Ring, to out pace your opponent and get down some of the Stax effects.

Stax Package
Damping Matrix - Shuts down most artifacts
Sphere of Resistance/Thorn of Amethyst/Trinisphere - Slow down your opponents game plans by costing everything more.
Tangle Wire - Slow down your opponents game plans by keeping things tapped for a while.
Winter Orb - Locking down opponents mana while you still have access to your mana dorks and your Altars to keep going.

Sac/Discard Engines
Dictate of Erebos/Grave Pact -Will help to keep your opponents boards free as you will be able to sacrifice on your time table.
*Liliana of the Veil/Fleshbag Marauder/Merciless Executioner + Ashnod's/Phyrexian Altar combo off with this.
Birthing Pod/Survivial of the Fittest/Fauna Shaman - Are there to help you find the answers as you need me.
Sadistic Hypnotist/Viscera Seer - are creature based sac outlets with the added bonus of Sadistic Hypnotist controlling opponents hands.

Win-cons
There are a couple ways of getting past that finish line.

1. Beats - There are several large creature to bring the hurt, Kokusho, the Evening Star, Razaketh, the Foulblooded, Rune-Scarred Demon,
   and Sheoldred, Whispering One, to name a few.

2. Black devotion - A large amount of the creatures have several black pips, so using Gray Merchant of Asphodel and then sacing it and bringing it back again a couple of times can end the game pretty easy.
