Orzhov Tempo Sacrifice on Budget (Standard)

This deck seeks to gain board presence quickly with cheap creatures, but accepts lack of control in the early game. Early damage is allowed to establish a good mix of sacrifice targets and beneficiaries on board and activators in hand. Trades will be very high value. Due to a lack of aggressive instants, instant speed activators should be hidden if possible. Drain control decks of removal with token generation, graveyard interaction, and high scry/draw rate. Stay out of burn range with health gain and threaten unfavorable trades to chip away opponent's health. Chip damage sets up for smaller damage pushes after the mid game control and removal. Decks that can stabilized with huge boards are answered with Ruthless Deathfang. Play smart around sweepers with token generation and card draw. Despite 22 land, this deck is not designed to play well aggressively. The lower average spell cost is to maintain a board state and allow for high tempo plays.
