To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
A tribal deck based on spirits. Thanks to the new printings in Shadows and Moon, spirits are more than viable in Modern thanks to their evasion and utility. They enable an aggro strategy that beats with fliers while mantaining a control component.
Spell Queller hits most of the format's threats while having an efficent body, and also beats uncounterable spells (Abrupt Decay, Supreme Verdict). Rattlechains is a 2/1 flier for 2 with flash, saves a creature from removal, and if that isn't enough, gives all your creatures flash. Selfless Spirit is a 2/1 flier for 2, and is insurance against boardwipes and individual removal. If you sac it, you can put it back into your hand with Ojutai's Command, which also grants countermagic, draw and lifegain in desperate situations. Mausoleum Wanderer is Cursecatcher with wings and a cloak. You can also pump him more times each turn to beat with him. Drogskol Captain protects and pumps your dudes, but remains vunerable himself. A trick to note though, is copying him with Phantasmal Image. Geist of Saint Traft is a powerful creature that swings for 6 while costing only 3 mana. It doesn't have as much synergy with the rest of the deck though, and it's legendary, so I only play 2. AEther Vial accelerates your game, while allowing you to make sick plays by flashing you dudes in free. Not a great topdeck, though. Lingering Souls is the reason for splashing black, great card, but it could be replaced with Spectral Procession (3 spirits instead of 2?) or Midnight Haunting (instant speed?). For now I'm testing Souls. Path to Exile is the best creature removal in Modern.
In the sideboard: Thoughtseize for the black splash, and Kataki, War's Wage because he's a spirit. I'm running Grafdigger's Cage over Rest in Peace because it's useful against Collected Company, Chord of Calling and Nahiri, the Harbringer decks as well as graveyard strategies. Apart from that, Spreading Seas is for Valakut and Tron decks, and the rest is pretty standard stuff.
I've only just begun testing the deck and it seems to have some potential. What are your opinions? What cards would you play instead of others?
