=== E V A L U A T I O N ===

Starke seems like a fun multiplayer commander, so I decided to design a deck around him. Most decklists I found online use effects that allow for careful manipulation of the stack to prevent Starke from changing allegiance permanently; but in my opinion one gets the most fun out of him by running mostly creatures and artifacts which are easy to recur, provide a benefit when destroyed/sacrificed or are outright indestructible, and then let Starke bounce around the table, randomly killing things.

=== S T R A T E G Y ===

Game plan:
a) Get myself some mana.
b) Play my spells.
c) Have fun. =)

Win condition:

  1. Beatdown. This list has lots of really big creatures that can throw a punch.
  2. Value. Losing my stuff will always come with a benefit and Red is really good at recurring artifacts, so time works in my favor.
  3. "Combo". Bearer of the Heavens can blow up the world, and thanks to Soul of New Phyrexia, Helvault, indestructible stuff or a suspended Greater Gargadon I will be the only player with some cards on the table afterwards. This won't win me the game on the spot but makes losing really hard.

Tips & tactics:

  • An often overlooked feature of Starke is that he can destroy one's own creatures and artifacts without changing allegiance, and having a free "sacrifice" outlet in the command zone can be very powerful. Use his ability this way whenever feasible.
