To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
The goal of this deck is to aggressively push towards a game ending infinite combo. That being said, unlike most infinite combo deck where you need to find a specific card, we are playing many redundant copies of effects so it's a lot more consistent when you need to fine one of 5 or 7 cards in your deck that work for a role.
En route to setting up your combo, the deck also has pretty solid draw engines and can snowball in a way similar to an elf deck would. We run an elf subtheme for ramp and so you are occasionally capable of stealing wins through board presence alone, but that is not the goal. So what is the goal? Set up one of a few types of combos. I've set up subsections in the decklist to help better facilitate an understanding of how these combos work
Method 1 (Morphin Madness): Yedora, Grave Gardener + Morph Creature + Sac Outlet = Infinite
The parts of the deck required to pull off this type of combo are Yedora, Grave Gardener, a morph creature like Birchlore Rangers, and a sacrifice outlet like Altar of Dementia. The combo works because you can sacrifice your morph creature and it comes back as a face down land. Then mana permitting, you can turn it face up and sacrifice it to the sac outlet. Then repeat forever. Note that the Yedora Forests can be tapped for mana when they enter.
Examples:
Yedora, Grave Gardener + Proteus Machine + Spawning Pit = Infinite Mana + Infinite Creatures
Yedora, Grave Gardener + Birchlore Rangers + Altar of Dementia = Infinite Mill
Yedora, Grave Gardener + Birchlore Rangers + Phyrexian Altar = Infinite Mana
Yedora, Grave Gardener + Tribal Forcemafe + Ashnod's Altar = Infinite Power + Infinite Colorless Mana
Method 1 (Animating Lands): Yedora, Grave Gardener + Land Animation Effect + Sac Outlet = Infinite
The parts of the deck required to pull off this type of combo are Yedora, Grave Gardener, a land animator like Life and Limb, and a sacrifice outlet like Blasting Station. The combo works because you can sacrifice a creature and it comes back as a face down land which is also a creature. You can then sacrifice that creature land and have it keep coming back to go infinite.
Examples:
Yedora, Grave Gardener + Life and Limb + Blasting Station = Infinite Damage
Yedora, Grave Gardener + Life and Limb + Zuran Orb = Infinite Life
Yedora, Grave Gardener + Embodiment of Insight + Zuran Orb = Infinite Life + Infinite Mana (Embodiment gets around summoning sickness)
I want to emphasize that this is not a braindead combo deck where you do the exact same thing every time. Assembling a combo can often feel like piecing together a puzzle, and it feels very rewarding to figure it out in a tough spot. This deck will reward you for game knowledge and deck knowledge, and it's power level will scale with the pilot more than many other commander decks. With that being said, here are a few tips for how to piece together that puzzle.
In the end, I think this a really fun deck that takes the idea of what a green deck should be and flips the payoff on its head by creating infinite combos to win instead off massive board states. It is certainly a bit of a doozy, but once it starts clicking this deck is really a turn 6 deck quite consistently. Turn 4 is about the earliest it goes, but it can go off in the turn 5 range in a good number of games. For less than $200 it really packs a punch, and can be trimmed to closer to 100 is you're willing to skimp on tutors and that sweet Phyrexian Altar.
As always, I'd love to hear you feedback. I'm open to any suggestions on how to improve this deck and am happy to answer any questions.
