Dinosaur

I love Frontier, but it is hard to find a game. If MTGO supported it then it would be all that I would play. Alas, I'm stuck playing kitchen table Frontier. Often I have found my decks to be lopsided or to just not be favorable matchups. To fix this problem I'm going to do a series of decks designed specifically to go against each other, my own take on duel decks.

My goal is to build the decks as evenly as possible. I want them to curve similarly, both have sub-themes that work against each other. Also the decks must have answers for the powerful cards in the other deck. Once the core of the decks are built I then want to balance out the support cards so the decks perform evenly.

A key factor to these decks is that there are no sideboards. the decks are meant to perform well out of the gate against the other. No need for sideboard answers to balance things.

For this duel deck I was looking first at Dinosaurs. So I wanted to figure out an archetype to pair well in a matchup with them. The build I'm going for with the Dino's is the cost reduction version. I started looking at a fair deck to oppose them and I decided upon Zombies. Zombies are a total opposite to Dino's. Your board state starts small, but grows to be massive in the midgame. Interesting to see if the Dino's can finish things off before the Zombie hoard outgrows them and overwhelms the board.

Step 1: Add Dino's
add 20 Dino's that all have strong upside or can help with the beat down.
turns 3 and 4 should be explosive if everything curves out.

Step 2: Add ramp pieces.
*One is good, but turn 1 and turn 2 is fantastic.

Step 3: Add support cards.
card draw on turn 1.
removal that enables enrage. Zombies are always going to start smaller than Dino's for fight mechanic.
*protection against spot removal.

Step 4: Add lands.
*make sure lands have numbers enough to play creatures, but you also have to make sure to count creatures as the turn they may possibly come down and not their natural turn.

Note:
*a few notable cards left out:
Deathmist Raptor-not as good in this deck as it would be in a midrange Dino's deck.
Ghalta- not fast enough for this build.
Gigantosaur- no reduction.
