Why consider this deck?
This is an ultra budget deck that people can play at an FNM or on Arena and post decent success. This deck is composed entirely of commons and uncommons.
On Arena you would not need to use up any good wildcards to build this deck.
*Mana base = 20 Mountains. Cheap and simple.
*The deck is fast. Really fast. You can put 20 damage together in the blink of an eye.
*There are going to be a lot of decks running as many as 12 shock lands in the upcoming standard. That is maybe 4-6 damage done for you. Think of these games as starting at 20-14.
Downside:
*While there is not a ton of lifegain in competitive standard, there is in bronze level Arena play. This makes it much harder for burn to win games in these matchups.
*You are a lot less likely to play against shock lands in bronze level Arena games.
*The deck actually gets better against improved deck lists in some ways: shock lands, less lifegain, fewer opposing aggro decks.
Upgrades:
a) Runaway Steam-Kin
*I would run this over Electrostatic Field. Far better at being aggressive and as a card overall.
b) Goblin Chainwhirler
*Guttersnipe may actually be the better fit in this deck. Chainwhirler helps with the endless tokens decks you run into on Arena.
c) Experimental Frenzy
I really like Light up the Stage here. Frenzy has blowout win potential, but you have to cut Light up the Stage if you want to play it and it is a rare. Frenzy is the better card, but not if you are concerned about holding onto your wildcards or being very budget oriented.
I would consider a 2/2 split between Light up the Stage and Risk Factor if I was going to use wildcards here.
