To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
This is my second go at Valki. My first deck became a Rakdos sacrifice deck with a minor Theft subtheme. Ended up feeling generic. This time I'm leaning into an on flavor deck that focuses on Valki's chaos nature and then turns the chaos into torture. The goal of the deck is to complicate our opponents actions as much as possible. Who knows who will win since luck plays an even bigger role in the outcome.
I've broken the deck down into three sections: 1) Extreme ramp to cast Tibalt early, 2) Pure chaos where randomness is everywhere, and 3) paying off from the chaos and punishing the opponents.
Phase 1: Extreme Ramp
The deck is hoping to set up a turn 4 Tibalt. Magical Christmas Land has turn 3 Tibalt's, but the design is to attempt a turn 4 Tibalt. I want the opponents to focus their time and resources on dealing with Tibalt while I get busy causing chaos.
Cards for this section include-
Ancient Tomb, Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Jeweled Lotus, Neheb, Dreadhorde General, Jeska's Will, Worn Powerstone, Treasonous Ogre, Rakdos Signet, Arcane Signet, Thought Vessel, Coldsteel Heart, Fellwar Stone, Mind Stone.
A subset for this section is protecting or recasting my commander (it can be beneficial to let your commander go to your graveyard)-
Dream Devourer, Geode Golem, Deflecting Swat, Imp's Mischief, Phyrexian Reclamation, Cauldron Dance, Hellkite Courser.
Phase 2: Chaos
I've divided Chaos into effects that are random (throwing opponents off their gameplans) and Theft effects (taking opponents resources and turning them against them.
a) Random
-wheel cards x7
-attack manipulation:
Xantcha, Sleeper Agent, Kardur Doomscourge, Disrupt Decorum, Emberwilde Captain, bloodthirsty blade, Grenzo Havoc Raiser
-random that benefits me:
Last One Standing, Rakdos the Showstopper, Vial Smasher the Fierce, Chaos Warp, Tibalt's Trickery, Combustible Gearhulk, Sin Prodder, Whims of the Fates
-pure randomness for the sake of chaos and disruption. War's Toll, Wildfire Devils, Planar Chaos, Allure of the Unknown, Confusion in the Ranks, Curse of Opulence
b) Theft
Angrath, the Flame-Chained, Zealous Conscripts, Stolen Strategy, Gonti-Lord of Luxury, Dire Fleet Daredevil, Etali, Primal Storm, Coercive Recruiter, Insurrection, Song-Mad Treachery, Mob Rule
Phase 3: Torment
Here I'm playing punishing cards. These cards consist of Kaervek, the Merciless, Torment of Hailfire, Sepulchral Primordial.
Another utility focused on here is sac outlets. They supply benefits to me, but also serve as a way to sacrifice stolen creatures from our opponents before they return to them at end of turn. Sac outlets include Kazuul's Fury, Phyrexian Altar, Ashnod's Altar, Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Phyrexian Tower.
