To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
My favorite deck right now is my Greven, Predator Captain deck. It is just so fun to play. Something I've found with the traditional version is the creatures are underwhelming. They are just fodder to sac to Greven and are totally useless on their own. I tried making a good stuff Rakdos deck, however the creatures mostly didn't match with what Greven wanted to do. So I got to thinking about an archetype where Greven will have lots of fodder, but also have a strong backup plan. Zombie tribal?
The typical Greven deck is a bit greedy. Drawing 8 is fun, but so is drawing 3 or 4 from a creature that has utility or a token that we got for free. Sometimes Greven runs out of sac fodder; not in a zombie deck.
Another issue Greven has is being the boogey man at the table. You might get one player before its removed. In this deck, if Greven gets removed then the horde creeps on.
The Zombies in the deck focus around:
1) Having aggressive power for Greven
2) Life loss effect to pump Greven
3) Recursion effects to get bonus creatures to sac
4) Anthems to get extra attack power and also for sac.
I'm not sure how this will work in practice, however the deck still does what Greven needs to perform well. I like the backup plan in this deck a whole lot more, since Greven normally has no backup plan at all.
One note for this deck is that it is okay to let Greven go to your graveyard. You probably aren't casting Greven for 9, so having multiple ways to get him back to the battlefield or to hand is a major upside.
The deck can still have explosive starts, but this deck can also grind. I'm going to try it out and see how it fairs.
