It's pure combo control. We are just ripping apart there hand of anything that can break up our combo while holding down the fastest decks we will face.
The deck can trick out the combo in a number of ways other than just blasting Saheeli turn 3, then Guardian turn 4. That is not likely how you will win.
1) Dark Petition will almost surely have spell mastery, so if you have 6 land and search out the Guardian just leave a white mana up and off you go. It doesn't work as well if Saheeli is the part of the combo you are missing.
2) Nahiri. It is not all that difficult to ultimate Nahiri to get the Guardian.
3) Ojutai's Command can grab Guardian out of your graveyard. If Guardian is destroyed, countered, pulled out with hand disruption, no worries. If you start the game with Guardian, a Jace, and the Command pitching the Guardian with Jace can catch an opponent off guard as they will not be looking for the Command.
4) Dig Through Time can just end things as well late game. No problem to assemble the combo with a counterspell after a Dig.
We are playing a ton of hand disruption and counter magic. Most of this serves a dual purpose as the cards give us options.
Against aggro we just need to buy a little time so cards like Collective Brutality, Transgress the Mind, Ojutai's Command, Rebuff, Nahiri and even Guardian may need to be played to stop the bleeding. Pure aggro is our worst matchup I believe. We do not play a lot of creature removal so that can be a problem.
When we play Rally we need to grab/counter Rally or CoCo and rely on our sideboard tech. With the limited removal Rally plays some games we can just go straight for the win.
I like the matchup with other control decks. We can sit back and wait with our counters and just draw cards and look for the opportunity.
Abzan could be scary, but the versions that exist just do not play enough cards that split up the combo. The addition of Fatal Push will help the deck and they have some sideboard tech, but I feel we are solid against that deck.
